US Congress Wants To Arm Taiwan As Quickly As Possible

Congress seeks to arm Taiwan quickly as China threat grows

Washington Post: Congress seeks to arm Taiwan quickly as China threat grows

Mindful of lessons learned from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Congress is pushing to arm and train Taiwan in advance of any potential military attack by China, but whether the aid materializes could depend on President Biden himself.

Deliberations on an unprecedented package of billions of dollars in military assistance to the self-governing island democracy come as Biden and Chinese leader Xi Jinping meet in Bali on Monday, with maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait a top item of discussion.

The bipartisan effort would enable the U.S. military to dip immediately into its own stocks of weapons like Javelins and Stingers — something done at scale only for Ukraine, officials said — and provide weapons for the first time to Taiwan through the foreign military financing program, paid for by the United States.

By hook or by crook this will happen. China can always be nuked!

If the UN does not allow the US to take over Canada that is crossing a red line.

If the UN does not allow Russia to takeover _______________ (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Poland) that is a red line.

If the UN does not allow China to takeover Mongolia or the north bank of the Amur that is a a red line.

Blah blah blah.

For my next trick let me use the term sphere of influence, which was invented during the golden age of diplomacy in the 19th century. Best diplomacy evah!

Blah blah blah.

I would like to Taiwan as part of China, but not under the CCP. There would niceties that MUST be done, like free and fair plebiscites.

Some diplomats are as much diplomats as doctors, who bled people in centuries past. Those doctors BTW had degrees.

not one swear word!

It's going to take 5+ years for all the European (German) factories to be packed up and rebuilt in North America. The Chinese could continue to wait it out and hope for political unification in a decade or two. Or they could make a move before the USA has reestablished an industrial capacity capable of producing shells and missiles in the numbers necessary to fuel multiple protracted conventional puppet wars.

The DOD has to assume and prepare for the second but where will the weapons come from in the short term?

Unless the US navy intervenes directly, there's a risk all this material will be useless or end up captured. Taiwan can be blockaded and struck from a distance by PRC for a very long time

And then most of the Chinese ships would not be able to leave China if conflicts erupt.

"It's going to take 5+ years for all the European (German) factories"

^ the words of an idiot (Russian or Democrat) ^

Why do you see it as a zero sum game?

Every continent or regions should have a certain basic set of manufacturing capability. I for one do not want factories shipped form another continent. I don'lt believe in it. Besides I have relatives in different European countries.

Now take you trolling and shove it up your prodigious ass. You boyfriend will thank you.

@7:28 "Why do you see it as a zero sum game?"

Despite your repeated insults and insinuations that I'm gay(?) I'll deign to give you a response.

It's tough to believe that basic economic theory needs to be explained but here we go: It's a zero sum game because economics determine that some areas are cheaper to manufacture goods than others. Sometimes this is because of labor costs, sometimes this is because of energy costs. In this specific case it is the cost of energy in Europe skyrocketing 250-500% which has shut down vast swathes of European industry. It is not conjecture or trolling, it is observable, reported fact.

Wall Street Journal: High Natural-Gas Prices Push European Manufacturers to Shift to the U.S.

In fact this is a topic often posted about on this blog. You're either willfully ignorant or ideologically blind yourself to any information that doesn't fit your cozy worldview. Either way your post is an embarrassment and your zealotry and homophobia are nothing to be proud or boastful of. Pay attention to the world around you.

Anon 8:57 to not mind Mr. 7:28.

We have all realized that he has an anger management and frustration problem. We have tried to help him with this problem. But it seems that he is incapable of self control.

We have also tried to help him along with his patterns of logic and argumentation process. Alas, to no avail. He remains disjointed and at times quite incoherent.

It best just to ignore him and find humor in what he says.
