Reuters: Turkish air strikes in Syria threatened safety of U.S. personnel -Pentagon
ISTANBUL (Reuters) -Turkish warplanes carried out air strikes on Kurdish militant bases in northern Syria and northern Iraq on Sunday, destroying 89 targets, Turkey's defence ministry said, in retaliation for a bomb attack in Istanbul that killed six people one week ago.
The strikes targeted bases of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Turkey says is a wing of the PKK, the ministry added in a statement.
Ankara has blamed Kurdish militants for the blast on Istanbul's Istiklal Avenue on Nov. 13 that killed six people and injured more than 80.
No group has claimed responsibility for on the explosion on the busy pedestrian avenue, and the PKK and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have denied involvement.

WNU Editor: The Pentagon is miffed because Turkey did not inform US officials on who/what/and where they were bombing in Syria.
I can understand why the Turks kept the US out of the loop. They probably felt that if they informed the US on who are their targets, the US would then just warn the Kurds.

All part of the unraveling of American middle eastern power. Given the American bureaucrats war on fossil fuels a catastrophe for the USA is in progress.
I'll bet the Russians were informed.
why?
It's Syrian airspace and the Russian airforce actively operates in it on behalf of the Assad govt. Russia/USA/Turkey have an informal deconfliction arrangement to inform each other when they are operating in the air above Syria. Typically this hasn't been overly politicked and generally adhered to, as all airborne powers in the country are going after undesirables such as ISIS. Turkey would have given Russia at least a vague heads-up that they were going to be striking generalized locations to avoid risk of incident.
thanks i thought the russkies were outta there--totally forgot about their base in western Syria too
