Putin Says Russia May Be Fighting In Ukraine For A Long Time

Reuters: Putin says Russia may be fighting in Ukraine for a long time

(Reuters) -Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that his army could be fighting in Ukraine for a long time, but he saw no need to mobilise additional soldiers at this point.

"As for the duration of the special military operation, well, of course, this can be a long process," Putin said, using his preferred term to refer to the Russian invasion now in its 10th month.

But he said there was "no sense" in a second round of mobilisation at this point, after a call-up of 300,000 reservists in September and October. Putin said that out of that total, 150,000 were now deployed in Ukraine. Of those, 77,000 were in combat units and the remainder performing defensive functions, he said.

WNU Editor: Putin's remark that Russia may be fighting in Ukraine a long time is the same remark that he made almost 20 years ago when he remarked that Russia may be fighting in Chechnya for a long time. That second Chechen war, and longest,  lasted 9 years and it ended with a Russia victory with its Chechen allies. Does that mean this war will last for a couple of years. God ... I hope not!

If fighting goes on for 9 years, Moscow must be demolished and the earth salted.

He certainly has diminished what was accomplished when Gorbachev let go of Russia's colonies from WWII. One of the most exhilirating [sp] events of my 76 years on this planet.

It would not take much nudging for WNU to support an invasion of Belarus by Russia.

75% or more people speak Russian. That appears to be WNU's criteria.

Never mind that most ethnic Belarussians speak Russian, but may have more identity than just language.

You could call the Belarussians speaking Russian as cultural imperialism. It does not seem to bother WNU.

Personally, I’m considering going over to fight for the Russians. I’m a seven year veteran of the US army and fought in both Iraq and Afghanistan as an armoured crewmen and an infantryman (Reclassed after four years) I am disgusted by what the West has become and is further becoming. I am worth nearly half a million CAD and want nothing to do with this society anymore. I am not alone as I have several friends in similar positions. The far left liberals are absolute monsters and pure evil in the flesh. The Russians, although flawed in many ways, are at least generally Christian and willing to stand up to evil and defend their culture and ways. A civilization that will outlast the west for centuries to come. Time to jump this sinking ship, it was good while it lasted.
