Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu warned Greece not to proceed with any expansion of its territorial waters in the Aegean.

ATHENS — Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Thursday threatened Greece with retaliation if Athens proceeded with any expansion of its territorial waters in the Aegean, saying that it would still be seen as a casus belli justifying military action.

“Our position is clear, no 12 miles, we will not allow for territorial waters to be expanded by even a mile in the Aegean,” Çavuşoğlu said during an end-of-year press briefing in Ankara, commenting on reports that Athens plans to extend territorial waters around the island of Crete.

Turkeys foreign policy is rational. It’s now the most powerful nation in the Middle East other than Israel. America is fading fast from the Middle East, power hates a vacuum so Turkey is filling it. Our idiot Sec of State just said the USA can’t help Ukraine and Taiwan at the same time.so Turkey has a free path in the Mediterranean.

Put 2 and 2 together. This is part of the reason Turkey is talking to the Syrians with the help of the Russians. They want to change their right flank status to an economy of force so they can be flexible to do other things.
