Congressional Republicans Disagree On Who Is To Be The Next Speaker Of The House

Daily Mail: Republicans in chaos as Kevin McCarthy loses SECOND ballot for Speaker: GOP rebels refuse to back leader and throw their weight behind Jim Jordan with party in disarray on first day in the majority

* The new House of Representatives gaveled into its first session on Tuesday

* Nearly two dozen of Kevin McCarthy's fellow Republicans voted against his bid to be House Speaker in the first and second rounds

* Voting is expected to continue until a Speaker candidate wins a majority

Nineteen Republican rebels have derailed House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy's second vote to become Speaker, throwing the party into chaos on their first day in the majority.

The group of dissenters are refusing to back McCarthy and instead threw their weight behind GOP Rep. Jim Jordan in the second ballot of the process that is leaving the start of Congress in limbo.

It is the first time in 100 years a Speaker has not been chosen in the first ballot. Now McCarthy, who can only afford to lose four votes out of the 222 Republican members, is facing an uphill battle to take over the gavel from Nancy Pelosi.

If the 19 Republicans stand firm in their opposition of McCarthy, the GOP will have to find another candidate or the leader will have to find another way to gain their support.

WNU editor: Nineteen Republicans want new leadership and they are not budging. If nineteen are this firm, it tells me that there are many more who are not happy with House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, and are only supporting him for the good of the party and/or do not want to upset the status quo.

McCarthy is a squish. We do not need another Turtle.

Strike 1:

Jan 6th committee.

1a) There should have been 4 Republicans.
1b) They should have been picked by McCarthy in consultation with his lieutenants.
1c) Normal rules of evidence and testimony etc. should have been observed.

Strike 2

The Omnibus bill should not have been passed. McCarthy could not have waited 11 days?

GOP are clowns all the way down.

No wonder they can't win a fair election.

Pathetic.

"there are many more who are not happy with House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, and are only supporting him for the good of the party and/or do not want to upset the status quo."

And that's pretty much why the GOP is useless. No teeth and no balls.

^ yeah, Dems know they're in a war, and are in to win. The Repubs still think it's a game

No, McCarthy has no balls and no teeth except when it come to his career. If McCarthy is elected it will be the Republicans who are lead by a lamb.

19 stood up against McCarthy. If you take what WNU said to be true, the 2X or 3X want someone other than McCarthy.

That is 38 to 57 people do not want McCarthy. Sound smore like a McCarthy problem than anything else.

Plan A: McCarthy
Plan B: Scalise
Plan C: Jordan
Plan D: Trump
Plan E (Fucked over option #1): some sort of wishy washy joint thingy,
Plan F (Fucked over option #2): Hakeem Jeffries
Prediction I heard is that Jim Jordan would not get the speakership, but Scalise would. Now WNU can transmit back to Putin.

They are NOT "in chaos"! The holdouts are trying to refashion the republican party into something that's actually relevant and represents a true alternative to the democrat party. Not easy considering how many scum bag RiNOS are embedded. Its not chaos, it's ABOUT TIME.

The Republicans need a Pelosi counterpart, an attack dog willing to pull out all the stops to WIN. Whatever else she was, Pelosi was a masterful strategist (of course, she also had the media on her side, which didn't hurt) and a ruthless b****. That's the kind of leadership the GOP needs right now.
