VOA: Top US, Ukraine Military Leaders Meet in Poland

U.S. Army General Mark Milley and his Ukrainian counterpart met at a military base in southeastern Poland on Tuesday in their first face-to-face talks, a sign of the two countries' growing coordination supporting Ukraine's defense against Russia's 11-month invasion.

Milley, chairman of the Pentagon's Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Ukrainian General Valerii Zaluzhnyi talked for two hours at the undisclosed site near the Ukraine-Poland border. The two top military chiefs had never met but have talked often since Russian forces stormed into Ukraine last February.

WNU Editor: It is telling that no photos of U.S. Army General Mark Milley and Ukrainian General Valerii Zaluzhnyi being together has been released. My gut tells me that they know such a photo will be used by the Kremlin in their propaganda campaign that this is more proof that Russia is waging war against the U.S./NATO.

Having said that. I will not be surprised if later in the day, or in the next few days, photos will be released by the Ukraine side. As this terrible war continues to grind on, many in Ukraine need the morale boost that such images give of not being alone.

As to this meeting. I do not know what is in the minds of the US military leadership, but I do know that in Ukraine there is growing apprehension and fear that Russia will be launching a major offensive in the coming weeks, and that they lack the means to stop it. Ukrainian General Valerii Zaluzhnyi needs more weapons and ammo, and he has been very clear since last month in an interview with the Economist that he does not have enough (link here).

Milley is a fat embarrassment to the USA.

Are you a Ukranian? If not, it is their freedom not yours.

My mother is Ukrainian and we can’t have a conversation about politics. It is unarguable that there is a war being waged against white Christians In the west, just look at all the churches being burned down without a peep from news agencies or government. FYI , Ukraine is mostly white Christian’s. So is Russia. The elites are having a blast and a laugh that they managed to get them to slaughter each other for no good reason at all. What a shame, and a waste.

You are spot on. This war is an evil created by the US and its western allies for its own purposes. The perpetrators of this war and their useful idiots will burn in hell.

Time is running short and both the Ukies and Americans know it. Soon the Russians will strike and it will be Katy bar the door.

Question is, who are they training ? At what level and in what types of tasks?

Most of the battlefield success so far has been due to Western intel, staff planning and weapons. That has been due to Americans being directly involved. This current American training will help, but it is not a complete solution. It is not sufficient enough to be effective on a large scale. Will the ukies use the cohort system? If the ukies use the cohort system, these US trained individuals will be more effective than if used in a IRP type system.

Also, the American record of training foreign forces is not a stellar one. Most American trained regular units broke when under pressure. The American trained SOUs did a lot better but there are other reasons for that, that have nothing to do with training.

Also, what these two generals talked about will be more than just weapons training. They might of gone over the discussions that Biden had with Zelinski last month. To wit, what will be the trigger points for US involvement and how that involvement will take place.....when, where and what type and how it will evolve.

GRAF is also a staff training area. I am sure staff integration concepts are being trained and possible future joint operations are being discussed/planned out, if and when the Americans decide to enter the conflict.

Because if the Americans decide to go in...they will be doing the heavy lifting until the Ukies get on their feet.

and yes if this happens, we will all probably get our fair share of radiation.
