A whopping 72 percent of viewers approved of President Joe Biden‘s State of the Union speech — including 43 percent of Republicans who watched.
Biden delivered his first State of the Union address under the new GOP House majority Tuesday night, and a raucous majority it turned out to be.
One facet of the speech has emerged as the dominant theme of the coverage. At one point during the speech, Biden invoked plans from several Republicans that would cause programs like Social Security to sunset every few years and disappear for good if not reauthorized. The president found himself flat-out arguing with Republicans screaming “LIAR!” in the middle of the speech.
That scene was repeated several times, with Biden shooting back by telling his rowdy colleagues to “look it up!”

Only 29% disapprove?
There are more republicans than that. 33% to 49% range would be more believable. You could blame squishy moderate or independents. Maybe even squishy RINO republicans.
It is harder to get good polls since people moved from landlines to cell phones, but it does not account for all the malfeasance or mistakes in polling.
Somewhat positive? Because they did not want to look negative to a pollster? Maybe. Maybe tepid support is a way of expressing dissatisfaction or as much as you date.
Maybe it is we survived to the 1/2 way point, we are going to make it and then we get a real person next time. This is my "The president is shit, but we see the light at the end of the tunnel, so things must be okay or okay enough" hypothesis.
I have done a lot of control charting looking for trends and events. The last year or so of Barack Hussien's presidency was amazing. Nothing really changed by his poll numbers just started to magically float upward.
I attribute that to poll weighting and poll semantics and the light at the end of the tunnel phenomena.
I am not impressed with doctors propping up a geriatric man with dementia. That is not amazing science or showing that we are making great gains in livability in old age.
I have seen cancer patients filled with steroid to help them for chemo and radiation treatments. They can say up for 1 or 2 days straight. That is not amazing. That is just drugs.

For one Fred, Biden lied about jobs created. The USA did not match jobs lost due to COVID until September 2022.
Most of the jobs refrained from the COVID losses were done under Trump. There is little point arguing with you because we can show a chart and you will just put your fingers in your ears, close your eyes and we all know the rest.
