Newsweek: Zelensky is Getting Desperate
Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky's series of high-profile visits to secure fighter jets show an "urgency" to secure support before an expected push by Russian forces, an expert told Newsweek.
Zelensky got a rousing reception at the British and European parliaments, as well as during a visit to Paris, in which he stepped up his calls for combat aircraft that he has been pushing for since the start of Vladimir Putin's invasion. "We have freedom, give us wings to protect it," Zelensky told British MPs.
"For Zelensky there was an urgency" to push for the planes, said Marcel Van Herpen, director of the Dutch think tank the Cicero Foundation and author of Putin's Wars. "February 24 is for the Kremlin a symbolic date, the start of last year's failed blitzkrieg," he told Newsweek.

This is a case when a editorially decided headline doesn't really reflect the contents of the actual article. The article just describes that Zelensky and Ukraine really want Western aircraft, that is would help prevent Russia recovering from its "debacle", and that Western leaders have various concerns about currently providing aircraft (because Poland's own aircraft is limited, because of logistical issues, because of the time needed for training, and because of the need to coordinate with all NATO allies in the decision).
So the headline's use of "desperate" makes the article appear much more negative of the situation in Ukraine than the article itself describes. "Urgency" has a lot of different connotations that "desperate."
Ukraine certainly needs Western aircraft. Even though its air denial strategy is successful and it has inflicted greater losses on Russia than it has suffered, Ukraine does not have the means to replace its own aircraft losses, anti-air systems, and ammunition while Russia does. Thus the need for Ukraine to get Western support now so it is ready by the time attrition finally takes its toll.

Reality check,
With out US leadership in staff planning, Brit leadership in Spec ops and US + Euro equipment, this guy would be on the street. He is in that position because the West funded his campaign and made him look good. Why did they choose him?
