The State of Democracy In The World

Statista: The State of Democracy

The Economist Democracy Index rates countries on the state of their governing system each year. In the latest published edition, corresponding to the year 2022, only 24 countries in the world have been rated as 'full democracies', representing 8% of the world's population. This category includes all Scandinavian countries, several Western European nations, as well as Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Mauritius, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Latin American countries Uruguay, Costa Rica and Chile.

WNU Editor: According to the above, the U.S. is a "flawed" democracy.

Republican leaders are recognizing that the sight of Republican lawmakers heckling the president of the United States didn’t do their party any favors.

It not only called attention to their behavior, it prompted many news outlets to fact-check President Biden’s claim that Republicans had called for cuts to Social Security and Medicare or even called to get rid of them. Those outlets noted that while Republicans have repeatedly said they have no intention of cutting those programs, what Biden said was true: Republican leaders have repeatedly suggested such cuts, or even the elimination of those programs, in speeches, news interviews, and written proposals.

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) told Alexander Bolton of The Hill that Republicans should stick to “reasonable and enduring policy” proposals. “I think we’re missing an opportunity to differentiate,” he said. “Focus on policy. If you get that done, it will age well.”

But therein lies the Republican Party’s problem. What ARE its reasonable and enduring policies? One of the reasons Biden keeps pressuring the party to release its budget is that it’s not at all clear what the party stands for.

France likes to beat up the yellow shirts

Canada gasses and steals money from a bunch of working class truckers.

The US

Go to a college as a professor and send an email to all that says. " all lives matter" and see what happens

Or
Go to downtown Portland in your Sunday best suite. Stand on the corner with an American flag and sing
" God Bless America " and see what happens to you

Or cross the BLOB and see how long you last against the IRS BATF and FBI

Have fun

Forgot. Israel is the same color as the US.
I would rather be a black in 1950s Alabama than a Palestinian in Israel today.
But they are a democracy. Better than the hungarians?

I have to agree.

When you consider the case of Ukraine. Zelinski has shut down all opposition press, banned his opposition political parties, harassed and closed orthodox churches, pulled people off the street for questioning, tied people upon the street for punishment, shot "collaborators" out of hand. Ukraine is listed higher than Guatemala, Turkey and on the same level as Mexico or the rest of Central America?

The map is flawed and not correct.

If you are going to respond to this. I am NOT doing a Russian vs Ukraine thing. What I am doing is a analysis of this map in context of what it is trying to display. If it is trying to say that Ukraine is a "more viable" democracy than many other countries . , the facts do not bear that out.

The United States is nothing more than a neoliberal corporate dictatorship period you rather like it or not.

This map was made by an NGO, NGOs are MAJOR vectors of corruption, money laundering, influence peddling, etc. So, what does that mean about the accuracy of this map?

Canada is a full democracy. One that will fully debank you and deperson you if you vote in an undesirable manner.

Benford's law tells me that there is massive fraud in the US. The US should be the same color as Brasil, if not close to a hybrid regime.

The Europeans are biased and give themselves way too much credit. In France, for example, they wanted to put Le Pen in a mental institution so they would not have to run against her, If they are willing to that, what else are they willing to do or have done?

Biden Reportedly Negotiating Deal to Give WHO Authority Over U.S. Pandemic Response, Including Right to Surveil Americans

When the US does this it is no longer a Democracy. PERIOD
