Ukraine Says Russia Has Massed 1,800 Tanks, 700 Aircraft & 500k Men For A New Assault

The Australian/Foreign Policy: Ukraine Braces for Grisly Russian Offensive in the East

Russia is sending more bodies. Ukraine doesn’t have enough. And the tanks won’t arrive in time.

“We expect in the next 10 days a new, huge invasion,” a Ukrainian military official, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk about intelligence matters, told Foreign Policy.

Over the weekend, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that he expects a surge in Russian operations around the upcoming anniversary of the invasion on Feb. 24. Russia has also begun arming up and digging in for a coming offensive.

The Ukrainian military estimates that Russia already has 1,800 tanks, 3,950 armored vehicles, 2,700 artillery systems, 810 Soviet-era multiple-rocket-launch systems such as Grad and Smerch, 400 fighter jets, and 300 helicopters ready for the new wave of attacks, the official said.

WNU Editor: When this new Russian offensive starts I do not see one massive assault. What I see is more of the same but on a far larger scale. The heavy use of artillery followed by infantry assaults backed with armor.

So now I wonder where the real attack will be..

As was reported constantly for last two months by Ukie rahs rahs, the Russians have no tanks and missiles left. Russian troops or either dying in mass quantities in human wave attacks or they are deserting in large numbers.

Therefore, the idea of a Russian offensive is a myth. It is not going to happen. Those who spout this thunderous collection of lies are Putin apologists and fellow travelers.

They are all Useful idiots of the Russian horde. These people hate us for our freedoms and are soulless vampires who cannot see the truth due to their deluded fantasies.

The Russians are falling back! Our forces are ever victorious and cannot be stopped in their righteous battle with the enemy. An enemy of all mankind who seeks to enslave us all.

Isn't this right, skoda, fazman, chris and all others who support our glorious cause?

Slava Zelinski, Slava the Ukrainian Youth press gang corps, Slava our glorious soldiers who do not need artillery, ammo, food, medical supplies and an Air Force to fight against the Russian Beast. Slava our olympic team that costs thousands of dollars. Slava our leaders who have been blessed by God with great wealth because of their purity of heart and honest work. Slava our support troops who transport troops around the battlefield in beat up cars and trucks!

Yea that's right...I am sick of your all lying bullshit deluded crap about how the Ukies are going to win and Putin is hitler or the next anti christ.

wake up and smell the coffee.

WNU Editor, you said, "The heavy use of artillery followed by infantry assaults backed with armor." Not sure if that is mis-speak, but if that is the order of attack that would explain some of Russia's failures. I am no expert in modern warfare but as a Marine Grunt, 1975-1979, when we trained, infantry supported tanks. If we had them, tanks went first. we protected the tanks. Do you know? does Russia send human assaults and then the armor comes in?

The soviet tradition was one of sequential armor columns. These would advance just behind a rolling artillery barrage. While their artillery units bombarded the main target and secondary targets. The infantry would be mounted in BRDMs and BMPs. The grunts would dismount only when they reached the objective line or the tanks needed dismounted (walking grunts) for cover.

The term "infantry support: has gotten warped. Traditionally, when people think infantry , they believe it is guys walking. But in modern warfare "infantry support" can mean units that do not dismount but are an APC accompaniment of the tanks along the battlefield.

Do the Russians follow the soviet model? Yes but with modifications.

Bottom line. A lot of people are surprised at the artillery usage. Why? IDK.... For the soviets, they always considered artillery as their main weapon. WW2 and their subsequent doctrine placed artillery as the main weapon in combat. The soviets had some of the largest artillery units in history and to those they were allied with, they advised to do the same.

Ukraines been digging in for months and have the defensive weapons to smash this Russian advance…

So they are digging in the frozen ground. They have minimal machinery. Northern sector the frost line can go down to 6 ft

Good luck with that .

Of course they can dig, what a silly comment.

@Ron

What I've observed they usually bombard the target, move in with 2 or 3 APC's, sometime with a tank supporting the rush, dismount right in front of the target and assault. All of this under artillery fire and flanking fire.
They seem to be kinda successful with that tactic lately, but they are taking massive damage. I'm thinking the Ukies can't keep up filling the lines, that's why Russia is advancing now.

But. The Ukies gives them hell. All these new platforms and toys in their arsenal are being used to the max.
