US News and World Report: U.S. Test Launches ICBM Into Pacific as Part of Nuclear ‘Deterrence Mission’

Military officials said the test launch of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile serves as a reminder that the U.S. can ‘deter twenty-first century threats.’

The U.S. Air Force test-launched an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean neighborhood of its adversaries in China and North Korea late Thursday at a time of growing international concern that brewing tensions among nuclear powers could escalate into a new arms race.

Air Force Global Strike Command described the launch of the Minuteman III missile, which was unarmed, as “routine” and designed to reassure allies. But it also seemed to acknowledge the growing bellicose language from American adversaries in recent weeks.

Now Uncle Sam flexes his muscles: US fires Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean - after Chinese spy balloon flew over Montana's 'nuclear doomsday' bas

Officials said the launch was 'not the result of current world events'

I really do not think that sends a signal of strength to Beijing or Moscow. I think in the midst of a shooting war, it actually sends signal of weakness.

A signal of strength would be not running out of artillery ammo and not sending reinforcements into Ukrainian drib and drabs.

I think we should nuke every continent. Especially Antarctica.

To show we are strong.

We should stake out 8:34 face down on a desert island and show that CEP for a nuke is less than a gnat's ass.

A successful ICBM launch certainly does send a message of strength, that the USA is capable of destroying its enemies in a worse case scenario. But destroying its enemies would likely mean the destruction of 95% of mankind as collateral damage. No wonder the elites are all investing heavily in underground shelters.

And that is the problem. It can show weakness to persevere in a less than worse case scenario such as the conquest of Ukraine by Russia.

If the Russian invasion of Ukraine would lead to

a) A conventional war with Russia to the end

b) A nuclear war with the West

Raspootah would never have invaded.

The Chechen Warlord is wrong. Poland is not next. Moldova is.

To get around a NATO confrontation, the Russian will stage a coup and then a repudiation of NATO membership.
