Reuters: Seven out of 30 allies met NATO military spending target in 2022 -Stoltenberg
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Seven out of 30 allies met NATO's military spending target of 2% of GDP in 2022, one country less than in 2021 before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the alliance's chief Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday, urging allies to boost defence investment more quickly.
Stoltenberg told reporters in a news conference at NATO headquarters in Brussels that the alliance originally had expected two more countries to meet the goal.
"But because GDP has increased more than expected for a couple of allies, two allies that we expected to be at 2% are now slightly below 2%," he said.
Stoltenberg did not reveal which countries reached the goal but referred to NATO's annual report to be published later on Tuesday.

NATO is a two tier alliance between those who care and those who don’t care about defending themselves. Germany has become the most cynical of allies knowing its geography is essential to NATO. We can’t get rid of them no matter how useless they are. Same for Turkey. NATO has become a rump of its 1980’s self. Fortunately Russia ain’t much either. So USA should sell arms to the willing, partner with key allies willing to defend and treat NATO as an ornament.
every dollar spent on the military is one less dollar you have to help your citizens or strengthen your economy.
but if these bums want to be part of an alliance, they have a duty to pay thier fair share.
But the comment on the Turks , I do not understand. Not counting the US...For years beyond count, and I think currently, the Turks have had the largest land force in nato and spend the most in relation to a comparable percentage of GDP of any other member.
funny how the map does not show Turkey. Then again, the turks have always been treated like third world slobs by the europeans. That is one of the reasons Ergoen is so popular. Euros and the US pissed on the turks cornflakes one too many times.
Nice Russian trolling comment at 10:57.
My parents vacationed in Bulgaria, where they met 4 Turkish officers. As is common for people of British descent my father's name is one found in the Bible. So when pleasantries were exchanged, there was the name. So the Turks asked, if my father was Jewish.
Can you spell BIGOTRY?
Come to think of it the Russian name Ivan is found in the Bible too. Whatever are good Turks to make of that?

nice comment. and the point is?
The point is that maybe there is a reason they are treated like 3rd world slobs. They treat others like crap and it redounds to them.
I'm confused, who is the bigot?
Your father for doing the cultural appropriation thing or the turks for asking a question?
