The Battle For Bakhmut Continues -- March 9, 2023 Updates

The Guardian: Ukrainian forces still trying to hold Bakhmut despite heavy casualties

Soldiers and analysts suggest defending city has become more of a political than practical issue, as Russian push continues

Ukrainian soldiers are being pummelled on three sides by Russian forces who are trying to capture Bakhmut, a city in the eastern Donetsk region that has become the focus of the longest and one of the bloodiest battles since the war began.

Ukraine’s authorities insist they will continue to try to hold the city despite them suffering an estimated 100-200 casualties a day – with some saying the reason is more political and symbolic than practical. Retreating from the city now, after so many soldiers died fighting to keep it, would be a hard reality to face.

After 8 months of fighting with a vastly superior force how has Russia not taken It yet????… it’s practically surrounded too

It's almost as if it's the most logical way to destroy 20 brigades... Hmm...

Urban environment, well equipped enemy force (20 Brigades) large front and Russia is succeeding in the manpower attrition campaign. What modern battle between two well equipped militaries are you using as a reference? Why do you believe the Russians should have taken it so much sooner?

This is my 1st post o this comment thread.

1) Russia has more artillery
2) Russia has more tanks
3) We've been told ad nauseum by Vlad ibn Nauseum von Rusky that way more Ukrainians are being killed than Russians.

Given 1 through 3, the Russians should broken through months ago.

The preponderance of artillery showed at Severodonetsk and all of the sudden it can't do the same trick? Perhaps your pecker has been cut off and handed to you.

Should’ve broken through months ago based on what modern precedent exactly? Don’t forget that the Ukrainians have the US intelligence systems and personnel working 24/7 for them, and every other NATO countries help as well. And yeah, the Ukrainian army is being reduced to old men and teenagers, so when the advances come, they are going to be big.

Waa Waa Waa! Russia has North Korea, Iran and China behind it. the Us has satellites and Russia has satellites. Does Russia not have satellites or did the last German from Operation Osoaviakhim (Операция)?

That might be it. The last German from Operation Osoaviakhim and Russia no longer can produce more satellites and ICBMs. The Russians tried to reverse engineer a German A-85-3 engine for the T14 Armata and they failed. How the fuck do your do that. I think how you do it is that FSB is as lame as Russian engineers. That is all I can figure out. You had better go down to Uralvagonzavod and help out. Ya hear?!

The advance are goign to be big

Bakhmut is Stalingrad and you are playing the part of the Germans.
