What Is The Current State Of The US Navy?

CBS 60 minutes: The state of the U.S. Navy as China builds up its naval force and threatens Taiwan

The United States Navy helped secure victory in two world wars and the Cold War. Today the Navy remains a formidable fighting force, but even officers within the service have questioned its readiness.

While the U.S. spent 20 years fighting land wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Pentagon watched China, its greatest geopolitical rival of the 21st century, build the largest navy in the world. China has threatened to use that navy to invade Taiwan, an important American ally.

As tensions with China continue to rise, we wanted to know more about the current state of the U.S. Navy, and how it's trying to deter China, while preparing for the possibility of war.

Admiral Samuel Paparo: The Navy's always on alert. One third of the Navy is always deployed and operating at all times. The Navy's mustering right now about 300 ships, and there are about 100 ships at sea right now all around the globe.

WNU Editor: Only 100 US navy ships deployed worldwide at anytime? That is not a big number. Will it be big enough to deter a Chinese invasion/blockade of Taiwan? You tell me.

It means China is screwed.

Your dreaming. What it means is the US Navy is too small. It is a one fight pony. You lose only 25% and those being actual combat ships, not support ships. You are going to have one hell of a time getting back up after that first punch.

Your only savior is your missle and aircraft forces.

No, it means stress. It is good thing. Now gold braid actually throws people, who believe islands tip over, to the curb and concentrate on the task at hand.

Stress such as getting rid of littoral combat ships and other types. Stress to increase fire power and decrease manpower and cost. Stress is good thing.

And the fall pack position is that we nuke you ass starting with the Prigozhin, FSB and GRU troll farms. RS-28 production is going really slow, isn't it!?

We should pay the Kazakhs to slip across the border and take your missile field in Orenburg. Most of the silos are worth anything but a few are.

So you're saying the only plan is nuclear war. You're just as screwed pal.

There is a difference between only plan and back up plan.

Notice Russian troll that "only" and "backup" are two separate words with different meaning.

You assume that I care, if there is a nuclear war. That is your mistake troll. I always assume "Red Storm rising" would happen. So it isn't something to be feared after living with it for so long.

Wnu: he said that 100 minimum are deployed at any given time, but that "the bulk of the usn" will go to western pacific in war over taiwan.

So hopefully that would be a ... aww shit what am i saying. I feel badly for taiwan , for phillipines, and Hong Kong for that matter.

What a let-down.

It’s not just about the US Navy, why don’t we look at this holistically 🤦‍♂️

Its cute when a person graduates to anew level and can get folksy by saying "aww shit" at a troll farm. He should get recognition in front of his fellow trolls.
