The United States is in a race against time to find an American drone downed by a Russian fighter jet in the Black Sea before it falls into Moscow's hands, as fears mounted today that the war in Ukraine could escalate further.
The MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed after being intercepted by two Russian fighter jets on Tuesday morning, in what US officials have said was a deliberate act to take it out the skies.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby confirmed today the US was reviewing 'imagery' collected from the region, close to the frontlines of Vladimir Putin's on-going war in Ukraine which Russia invaded in February 2022.

Update: Pentagon tight-lipped on possibility of recovering drone wreckage from Black Sea (TASS)
WNU Editor: According to Russian media, parts of this Reaper drone have already been retrieved by the Russian navy during a search-and-rescue operation, and it was observed by US and NATO P-8A and G-550 surveillance planes (point 4 at this RT news link).

Before Alexander Beyer gets carried away with himself, consider this.
Once the russian pilot followed orders and crashed into the drone, the drone was damaged and in uncontrolled flight. So where it fell at that point mean not as much as some would like.
Also the drone fell in Ukrainian territory. the Un does not recognized russia's seizure by force.
It would be nice to plant malware on a drone and let the enemy retrieve it
