Asia Times: Guided and glide bombs: new feature in Ukraine war
Already needed are next-generation versions less vulnerable to jamming
The Ukrainians are using US-supplied glide bombs and the Russians have their own.
These weapons are a new feature in the Ukraine war, and so far the Russians are winning the battle of glide bombs. The Ukrainians are calling the Russian glide bombs an “extremely big threat.”
The US has supplied Ukraine with two different types of glide bombs, the GLSDB (ground-launched small diameter bomb) produced by Boeing and Saab (Sweden), and the JDAM-ER (joint direct attack munition-extended range), manufactured by Boeing. Over the years Boeing has produced more than 500,000 JDAMs.
Russia has answered with two types of precision bombs, the Grom E2 and the UPAB-1500B-E.
Surprisingly, the US-supplied weapons have not been effective and have been intercepted by the Russians.

WNU Editor: The Russian military has only recently started using guided and glide bombs, and according to all reports that I have seen, they are proving to be very effective. They are also incredibly cheap to build, and with the Russian air force dominating the skies over Ukraine, a useful, accurate, and effective weapon to use against Ukrainian positions.

Ukraine war is a proving ground for weapons the USA would use against China. Everybody is in an action/reaction cycle with weapons tweaks.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. special operations forces carried out a precarious evacuation of the American embassy in warring Sudan on Sunday, sweeping in and out of the capital, Khartoum, with helicopters on the ground for less than an hour. No shots were fired and no major casualties were reported.
With the last U.S. employee of the embassy out, Washington shuttered the U.S. mission in Khartoum indefinitely. Left behind were thousands of private American citizens remaining in the east African country. [cut]
An estimated 16,000 private U.S. citizens are registered with the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum as being in Sudan. The State Department has cautioned that that figure probably is inaccurate because there is no requirement for Americans to register nor is there a requirement to notify the embassy when they leave.
“It’s absolutely imperative that U.S. citizens in Sudan make their own arrangements to stay safe in these difficult circumstances,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said in Washington.
