Who says the US fleet could sail? Given the proximity of commercial ports to US Naval bases, a few Chinese flagged freighters could unleash hundreds of kamikaze drones to smash into the electronics of the fleets ships.

This article is deeply flawed on several levels.
It assumes too much and discounts the enemies potential.

How many high-level exercises has the US run in the Pacific theater senerio and lost? More than one. And that is one too many.

True but Navy/Air force has found some consistently winning strategies that do Not involve steaming in a massive armada Tripoli style like the chinese have planned for and would love. Despite how bad the leadership is in both the Pentagon and DC, it's a bad idea to bet against the US military.

There isnt even a need to fight all you have to donis cut off(blockade) China from the west and Africa and they wont be able to do anything. They import all their raw materials to make stuff. The western 2/3rds of their coumtry is useless mountains and deserts. 94% of their population lives on 43% of the land. They have a pop of 1.4 bn. What do you think happens when they run out of resources? Less than 7% is in the CCP. The actual Chinese people dont want to fightbthe US.
The populace rises up and frees themselves from communism.
