Editor's Note

Tuesday is the day that I help Ukrainian refugees. Blogging will return, but late tonight.

When you factor in the cost of these refugees and everything sent and given by the west to Russia, it is arguable that Russia is winning by a long shot. I wouldn’t be surprised if we are spending north of $50 million CAD to destroy an averaged priced 3 million cad piece of Russian armoured equipment. Now there’s a fun figure for a mathematician to figure out.

Tbf, that's only true as long as Russia has the launch systems to deploy the missiles. Ukraine's issue is they lack the reach to go after the bombers, their bases, and the ships launching these attacks.

In a confrontation with NATO, those bomber bases would likely eat a few hundred Tomahawks on the first day. The bombers themselves would have F-22s, F-35s, and Eurofighters out there hunting them down. And the Russian surface fleet would be lucky to survive the first week.

Russia is bleeding.

Russia is pulling troops out of Belarus. So much for threatening the north front with an army in being.

Looks like the new Pac-3 Patriot batteries can knock down anything the Russians can throw.

"Russians fire 18 missiles of various types, apparently all trying to saturate / destroy the Patriot battery in Kyiv. Battery shoots them all down.

Pac-3 version of Patriot uses smaller faster missiles than in the GUlf war 22yrs ago. 4x as many missiles at the ready, and they are a 'hit to kill' variant, designed to better disrupt the path of the inbound warhead. Gulf war were proximity kill and a SCUD warhead could still land roughly where it was headed.

The Ukrainian Air Force says Russia launched 6 Kinzhal missiles from 6 MiG-31K aircraft, 9 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea, 3 S-400 or Iskander-M missiles, and 6 Shahed / Geran-2 drones over night, all of which were successfully intercepted.https://t.co/Cu9pZqA2MM pic.twitter.com/k58PEKr9bt
