Russia Jails Three Hypersonic Rocket Scientists On Charges Of Treason

Reuters: Russia says hypersonic missile scientists face 'very serious' treason accusations

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Three Russian academics who have worked on hypersonic missile technology face "very serious accusations", the Kremlin said on Wednesday, in a treason investigation that has spread alarm through Russia's scientific community.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he was aware of an open letter from Siberian scientists in defence of the men, but that the case was a matter for the security services.

In the letter, published on Monday, colleagues of Anatoly Maslov, Alexander Shiplyuk and Valery Zvegintsev protested their innocence and said the prosecutions threatened to inflict grave damage on Russian science.

"We know each of them as a patriot and a decent person who is not capable of doing what the investigating authorities suspect them of," they said.

WNU Editor: I do not know the details of this case. I suspect there is more to this story than what is being told. But if they were arrested for no reason at all, this will severely damage Russian scientific research.

While many in Russia face arrest for no reason at all, in this case, it's quite clear. Russia is enraged that their supersonic missiles were shot down by Ukraine.

If they can’t take out their targets with the best of the conventional arsenal available, what do you think comes next?

The events are unrelated.

The first two scientists were arrested in 2022, and this third arrest happened last friday.

The patriot wasn't destroyed until 4 days later on Tuesday (yesterday).

The arrest is now being re-reported in the west to mislead the over-emotional ukrianian trolls who won't check a calendar and will connect the two events as: "He was arrested because we shot down 6 of their missiles!"

When in reality he was already being interrogated for days by the time it happened.

Funny how you take the Russian legal system very serious all of a sudden when it's the only way to continue pretending that the patriot battery didn't get lit up yesterday.

Buddy that was the remains of a bunker buster glide bomb with an 800 pound concrete tip. Very embarrassing moment for Klitschko when he was filmed standing in front of that making the hypersonic claims.
