New York Times: William Burns, a CIA Spymaster With Unusual Powers
WASHINGTON — To mark the 20th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, CIA Director William Burns stood in the lobby of the agency’s headquarters in Langley, Virginia, and sought to exorcise the ghosts of the prewar intelligence failures that haunt the building to this day.
Addressing some 100 CIA officials on March 19, Burns acknowledged how the agency catastrophically blundered in its assessment that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. But he noted, according to two people present, that there was ample blame to go around. The culprits included a hubris-stricken Bush White House as well as the State Department — where Burns served at the time as a senior official — which he said had unwarranted confidence that it could derail the invasion plans.
Notably Burns added, “We’ve learned from that hard lesson.” The intelligence the agency and others collected on Russia’s plans to invade Ukraine, he said, “stands as a powerful example of that. It enabled us to provide strong, resolute and confident warning, to help the Ukrainians defend themselves and to help the president cement a strong coalition.”

WNU Editor: I am not surprised by this "puff" post on the CIA Director from the New York Times. Expect even more in the coming months. The U.S. is now in an undeclared war with Russia and in an economic war against China. Tensions are rising, and the media is being used both here and abroad to support government policy and its leaders.

Undeclared war, exactly. Two energy drug dealers trying to off each other to sell to the European energy junkies. The US has the bigger gun but isn’t seeing things right because it’s sick with the woke flu.

Blob MSM supporting blob government, Why are we not surprised.
Would the establishment (Democrat & MSM) lie to the public?
I recently read a piece on the Teutoberg Forest Disaster. The university professor point out that Varus commanded his forces by the book. March discipline was lax, but everything lese was by the book. He argues that Roman commenters on the disaster blamed Varus for one reason. He opines that Varus was blamed so that the Russian system of using tribal people as auxiliaries would not be. This he posits was to reassure the public. the military and political elite knew the truth.
The author also mentions other revolts by auxiliaries like the Batavi and by Tacfarinas in North Africa.
One Of Rome’s Most Devastating Military Defeats Was Masterminded From Within
It would not do for the Roman population to realize the risk posed by auxiliaries, and so when the story of the Teutoburg was being told, the betrayal of Arminius and his men would be minimized to preserve civilian trust in the system.
In my reading, the paper presented an account of what took place. Where does it say the paper offered praise? Praise or its opposite would be in an editorial commentary.
The pedo friendly media needs to recuperate his image after this week's WaPo stories showing he was spending 1/4 of his time hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein.
