The head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group on Monday slammed reports that alleged he offered information on Russian troop positions to Ukraine as 'laughable' and a result of a possible smear campaign.
Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin has in recent days sharpened his rhetoric against the Russian defence ministry, issuing scathing videos about Moscow's generals.
Wagner fighters have spearheaded Moscow's fight for the east Ukrainian city of Bakhmut and Prigozhin's influence has skyrocketed since Moscow's offensive.

I read the Washington Post report yesterday, and I just laughed. But when I thought about it later, I wondered why did US intelligence, who fed the Washington Post this intel, decided to push this story out?

Yevgeny would do this for two reasons, if he were to do it.
1) Putin was going to have him killed
2) Russia was going to lose.
Quite a few people in the Kremlin and upper ranks I do not believe think they will lose. Strike #2.
Putin and Yevgeny go way back. I do not believe that Yevgeny is like Himmler. Himmler would have replaced Hitler upon death or would have arranged his retirement. Hitler was loyal to Mussolini, Goering and others to a fault. I think Yevgeny and Putin are loyal to each other and I think Yevgeny knows he is second fiddle.
The ammunition dispute was trolling and a head fake. I think Putin would let Yevgeny know a few times if he had gone too far. Yevgeny would get some warnings to pull back form the brink. I do not think he would just be offed.
I could be wrong.
