Why are American troops still in Syria? To protect Israel I suppose...Still it's illegal for them to be uninvited in a sovereign nation
The original idea was to support ISIS against the Syrians, deny the Russians their port at Tartus and shut down the Syrian Iranian ADA link in. support of Israeli concerns.
It all went south. The BS reason in the last 5 years has been to protect the Kurds. The Syrians and Kurds had no real problems. It is mainly to protect the Kurds from the Turks.
Look up operation Timber sycamore.
That’s exactly right 👍
Asshole Obama was shamed into protecting the Kurds.
The Russians could protect the Kurds. Some Kurdish parties are Marxist. Russia refrains from protecting the Kurds. Odd. You would think Russia would have at least foot in the door to reconciling the Kurds and Assad the Dicktator.
What is Russia doin in Syria. You say Assad invited them in. So the next question is what is Assad doing in Syria? He should not be in Syria. All he does is hold sham elections and persecute Sunnis.
Boy you need a geography lesson as well as history.
Russians. base left over from the Soviets. been there since the 60s.
Assad been there forever, he was born there. , His dad ran country, before him. Old guard Arab state. you do not remember when Egypt and syria were one country back in 60's??
Russians aren't dumb. They have enough problems with the turks. Do not need more. Turks hate the Kurds. A friend of Kurds is no friend of turks. Russians stand clear of target zone.
But why is US there? Beats me why they invaded a sovereign country for the slimest of reasons and then wail at the Russians for doing the same thing when the Russians had a hell of a lot more reasons to invade.
Read about this mess and its history. Especially about Timber sycamore...a real "best and Brightest" debacle.
In congress hearing
Congressman asking question:
General Austin, After spending 500 million dollars, how many men do you have trained in the Free Syrian army??
General Austin. Sir we have 5.
look it up in the record.
Austin was the CENTCOM commander at the time.
Just like the Ukraine, Afghanistan Iraq , and Vietnam. A big waste of money.
We're they injured in Syria or were they on active service in Ukraine?
good question.
May be a cover up to cover the "dead advisors"
Assad been there forever, he was born there. , His dad ran country, before him.
i.e. dictatorship
i.e. sham elections
i.e. no legitimacy
i.e. truce in effect to be broken when Sunni see an opening.
Better off, than under the head choppers you buddy Obama brought in.
Likely another Biden lie, a coverup. The last thing he needs is body bags from Syria from a war few support in America. Highly likely that helicopter was shot down.
We have a rogue mmicc
follow up on that.
Assad is on the road to rehabilitation I think.
follow up on that
