CNN: Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin as he criticizes China at Shangri-La security summit
Singapore CNN — A war over Taiwan would be “devastating” and affect the global economy “in ways we cannot imagine,” US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has warned, as he underlined US support for the island democracy.
“Conflict is neither imminent nor inevitable. Deterrence is strong today – and it’s our job to keep it that way,” Austin said in remarks at the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit on Saturday, which is being attended by representatives from dozens of countries including China.
“The whole world has a stake in maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The security of commercial shipping lanes and global supply chains depends on it. And so does freedom of navigation worldwide. Make no mistake: conflict in the Taiwan Strait would be devastating.”

US should stay out of China's internal affairs if it wants peace. China and Taiwan conflict is internal China business. But USA is a nation that routinely meddles in other nation's business. When war with China comes, and it will unless the US backs the fuck off, the US Navy is going to get hammered but good. And hope that is all that will happen, for it might well be much worse than the US Navy sinking to the bottom of the sea. China is a nuclear power. US mainland can be really crippled because of stupid American warmongering leadership.
There are plenty of loyal Chinese communists living and working in the United States . Once an act of aggression is made by us, those “citizens” can do a lot of damage in their own right. How do you round up a million plus likely armed Chinese on the mainland during a time of war? You don’t.

A quarter of my neighborhood is made up of Chinese. And most don’t like anyone but other Chinese. When the black migrants started moving into my condo complex, the for sale signs went up in mass. The Chinese don’t want to be seen living in the same neighborhood as blacks. It’s denegrading. They have no problem projecting how they feel about us. Not at all good people in any way.
