JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (Reuters) -U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had an "open, candid" conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the early hours of Wednesday about a wide range of bilateral issues, a U.S. official said.

The real reason that US Saudi relations have tanked was because of the the assassination of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi, a "dissident journalist" by Saudi agents. The huge and overblown reaction by the western media made the Saudi's realize that the United States leadership/media was likely insane, and that it needed to re-evaluate its relationship with the US. President Biden did not make matters any better by calling the Saudi Prince a murderer. Stupid Biden.

Good comment ^

The exact same conclusion was arrived at by Beijing during the balloon hoax.

And, while his government isn't being as overt and provocative about it as KSA, India and Modi seem to have drawn the same conclusion.
