WNU Editor: Two days ago WNU post reports from some military bloggers that Russia had started a massive offensive in the northeast part of the country. More details are now emerging (see Weeb Union and Defense Politics Asia videos above).
The big news according to reports from both Russian and Ukrainian sources is that sections of the Ukraine front-lines have collapsed in this region. If true, I predict this will change the focus of the war away from the southern part of the region to this new Russian offensive in the northeast.

Good--they need to get that back
A calculated guess.....
This is a feint or secondary attack.
Watch the south. Odessa must be taken to secure the southern flank of the Black Sea, Crimea and ensure contact/resupply with The Transniester peacekeeping force.
This is a dangerous game because it is said if the Russians try to take Odessa the US would send in the 101st airborne to secure the city.
Or maybe all these behind the door meetings between the US and russian intel chefs have established a go/nogo agreement for both sides? And the south will remain Ukraines no matter what.
But looking at the overall situation, the South is more important than the north. The south is where the real fight needs to be for the Russians.
