Politico: Allies’ ‘main effort’ for Ukraine shifting from donating weapons to fixing them

After 17 months of war, Ukraine has amassed a staggering and diverse arsenal of equipment that needs to be maintained.

The West’s focus on building Ukraine’s war machine has shifted significantly to repairing and sustaining those weapons, a recognition that the war will grind on for months and years to come, the Pentagon’s top acquisition official said.

Even before Ukraine launched its counteroffensive this summer, allies were becoming increasingly worried that efforts to keep donated equipment up and running were falling behind battlefield needs.

Update: West to shift Ukraine weapons strategy (RT)

WNU Editor: Ukraine's allies have no choice but to shift strategy. They are reaching the limits (if not already) on what they can send to Ukraine.

There is also a plan to establish plants in Ukraine itself, but they will probably be destroyed as soon as they are operational .... Russia could target proposed German tank plant in Ukraine – foreign ministry (RT).

Well according to fazzy Chris and skoda , the ukies have thousands of Russian captured weapons. So this is a great idea.

But the question is. Where are these weapons going to be repaired and by who?

Why? You going to bring in NATO army mechanics into Ukie land to do the repairs? Or ship the equipment to Poland or Czech, or some other country

Or you going to use western PMC personnel to do the work in the Ukraine?

Each way is huge in cost.

Ship the equipment out of country

or pay PMCs to do the work in country?
Probably cost 1000 dollars a day just for one mechanic....not to mention all the other personnel and material costs

Your tax dollars at work.

Old joke: what do you get when you put a Marine in a padded cell with 2 steel ball bearings?

"One broken, one missing, Sir!"

It's right up there with the old, "What starts out green, turns yellow, and gets cut down in bunches on the sand?"

According to you they'd have nothing to repair , and the Russians won 6 months ago . Wnu, the tank plant was to be built after hostilities cease , and even if it was built now that plant would be better protected with German and U.S sams and ciws than the white house

Funny, but when Russian tanks get hit, they mostly don't get repaired for some odd reason.

But if you are quick, you can roast marsh mellows!

"That's the[sic] they got rid of Buckner"

General Buckner died at Okinawa on June 18, 1945.

Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945.

So General Buckner was not gotten rid of.

Buckner went near the frontlines to assess the situation for himself. Like many Russian generals, he died at the front.

but a toilet water drinking Russian troll won't let facts get in the way.

Fun Fact: Rhe American amphib landing were lightly contested or uncontested. It is when the Marines and army moved inland that the sheisse hit the fan.

Dumb @$$ Russian troll could have read "With the Old Breed" and he might have known this.
