Reuters: 'The Russians Were Waiting for Us': Ukraine Troops Describe Tougher Fight Than Expected
SOUTHERN DONETSK PROVINCE, Ukraine (Reuters) - They rode into a kill zone. The timing was off. Many men were lost. In the end, they recaptured the ruined village of Staromaiorske, claiming Ukraine's biggest advance for weeks.
Troops at the spearhead of Ukraine's counteroffensive say a battle last week along the front in the southeast proved to be tougher and bloodier than expected, with plans going awry and an enemy that was well-prepared.
"The Russians were waiting for us," said a 29-year-old soldier using the call-sign Bulat, from a unit sent into battle in armoured vehicles during last week's assault.
"They fired anti-tank weapons and grenade launchers at us. My vehicle drove over an anti-tank mine, but everything was ok, the vehicle took the hit, and everyone was alive. We dismounted and ran towards the cover. Because the most important is to find cover and then move on.”

WNU Editor: There are two different strategies at play in this war. The Ukraine side is focused on fighting a campaign to seize territory. The Russian side is fighting a war of attrition.
Was it worth throwing away hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers and dozens of armored vehicles to seize a small village? Reading the above accounts from these Ukrainian soldiers it appears that they have some doubts. I know on the Russian side, this is exactly the fight that they want to see happening.

We know perfectly well, according to Fazman, Chris and The Hanover GS cabal, that the Russians are all poorly trained , have low morale, and cannot even tie their own shoes. .

Other wise, how do you explain that this Ukrainian "offensive", started two months ago , has not even broken thru one defensive line? How do you explain Ukrainian troops saying that they have to fight tough battles and thereby inferring they face a tough and competent enemy?
The point here is that the Russian army is not a bunch of buffoons that these liars would have you believe.
They are a competent, deadly organization. But they are not 10ft tall. They have flaws. Just like every military organization.

Well obviously it’s mostly anti Russian boogie man propaganda that claims they they are incompetent drunken undisciplined hooligans who can’t fight, aim, shoot or even piss straight! Highlighting their incompetence, losses and mistakes while engineering a Pro Ukraine narrative of a almost invincible unstoppable force that doesn’t kill innocent people and emphasizes their successes and offensive combat capabilities as A-1 Western style they were taught by and copied from Americans military doctrine, ability and force structure! Truth to it all the above but also exaggerated and the truth for both sides is balanced in the middle!! Russian does suffer from gross incompetence, bad planning, execution and poor performance, bad logistics, low morale in some units and has has taken high casualties and losses of men and material an has been beaten ,battered and humiliated especially in the opening stages due to highly mobile ,experienced and trained in asymmetric warfare designed to inflict heavy losses and stall until mobilization and reinforcements that were warned in advance by CIA to prepare and given advanced anti tank weaponry and manpads for that exact task and purpose! But Russia is just as successful defensively as Ukraine was in the beginning of war! And russia has also degraded and destroyed Ukraines original military and obviously without military support and support of the whole world they would’ve lost the war! But Ukraine is now lost almost all it most experienced effective combat units and is taking heavy losses of its newly and hastily trained reserves and advanced armored vehicles and weapons with limited ammunition (specifically artillery) up against deeply dug in extensive defensive network of booby trapped trenches, fortifications and multilayered lines of defenses in mostly open fields no cover heavily mined with anti tank and personnel mines and traps, kill zones, fixed firing positions, recon, attack an suicide drones, fixed wing and rotary attack helicopters attacks, defensive counterattacks!!! It’s a war of attrition both ways but Ukrainian has limited resources and time and Russia goal is to outlast and wait out until they are depleted and have no support

the Ukraininas are fighting hard, but they have a worthy opponent. It has not been, and will not be easy for them. And truthfully, I cannot see how they will manage to break though the Russian defenses.
But who knows? we will see.
Facts! Yeah I’ve seen some messed up videos, a few articles and some analyses explaining that even though there’s brigades trained in western style combat and breaching tactics, some of those brigades fell under the control of Ukrainian commanders who weren’t trained this way at all, even though some are use to fighting the usual way which is a mixture of Americas more fluid style of leadership and non commissioned officers corps that gives units more operational flexibility in decision making with traditional soviet style, artillery bombardments while simultaneously following up with heavy armored tanks and armored fighting vehicles in single file formations just borrowing headfirst into enemy lines and positions headfirst! Which is very bad and why we see so many columns of armored tanks and vehicles just recklessly roll onto known minefields and take heavy losses in life, limb and material foolishly and senselessly smh but even with the best advanced tanks, mine clearing vehicles, and tens of thousands of more men I see no solution to the obstacle of endlessly open fields peppered with millions of anti tank and personnel mines! Already Honed in on by artillery units, with no where to take cover, attack copters no way they can win with no air superiority or cover, limited ammunition, tanks, supplies and time Impossible
