Western Military Officials Knew Ukraine Wasn't Ready To Launch A Counteroffensive

Wall Street Journal: Ukraine's Lack of Weaponry and Training Risks Stalemate in Fight With Russia

BRUSSELS—When Ukraine launched its big counteroffensive this spring, Western military officials knew Kyiv didn’t have all the training or weapons—from shells to warplanes—that it needed to dislodge Russian forces. But they hoped Ukrainian courage and resourcefulness would carry the day.

They haven’t. Deep and deadly minefields, extensive fortifications and Russian air power have combined to largely block significant advances by Ukrainian troops. Instead, the campaign risks descending into a stalemate with the potential to burn through lives and equipment without a major shift in momentum.

As the likelihood of any large-scale breakthrough by the Ukrainians this year dims, it raises the unsettling prospect for Washington and its allies of a longer war—one that would require a huge new infusion of sophisticated armaments and more training to give Kyiv a chance at victory.

Update: West knew Ukraine wasn't ready for counteroffensive – WSJ (RT)

WNU Editor: The West has always underestimated Russia, with this counteroffensive being just another example of the West underestimating Russia.

Sighhh ....

The hope in the West that Ukrainian courage and resourcefulness would carry the day reminds me of something that Hillary Clinton said a decade ago. Hope is not a strategy. But apparently for the West and Ukraine's political leaders hope was the strategy.

The US military is about to be tested in a big way over Taiwan. The mental midget democrats living in those big cities have no idea what’s about to happen to them when all trade stops in the pacific. Try that shit in a small town bitches.

What this was?

This was absolutely criminal, that is what is was.

Where did the Ukrainians get the idea that they were ready? The idea, that they had enough equipment, The Right TYPE of equipment and enough trained people?

Where did they get their intelligence estimates?

Who schooled the Ukies on exactly what was the situation in front of them? The condition, status and depth of the obstacles they faced?

The Ukies had to have been provided with satellite, drone, SLAR and signal data , possible some of it real time. Not to mention HUMINT sources.

So with all of this, who was the devil that led them down the bloody road? Who gave them, or helped develop the

"Operational and Intel estimates and execution matrixes of success" ??

Talk about being set up for failure, instead of success.

An American repeat of Lam Son 719.

But I bet it "briefed well" in the days prior to the start of the counter offensive.

Exactly. Two takeaways from this.
1. is this how the US and NATO are going to conduct warfare with their own Militaries?
2. If not, why do this to the Ukrainians?
This should be a wake up call the Ukrainians that the west is just using them and don’t give a shit about them. Big changes on the global scale are a comin folks.

It's not the Galician master race being fed into minefields. It's ethnic Hungarians and Russians being press ganged by the Galicians. In their mind this costs them nothing.

You hit the nail on head. As a former soldier. I can tell you that no way in hell would an American army fight like this.

But they sent them anyways. All of those Ukrainian men should have chosen jail over slaughter. Thanks government. You are truly mankind's friend.
