Regarding the Armed Forces Academies, it has long been my opinion that screw ups should be kicked out period. And should be required to reimburse the government for all and any costs. There’s NO room for bad officers in any service just as there’s no room for bad enlisted folk. Academy students are afforded a free and top notch college degree. There’s no second chance in combat. And combat is why the military exists. It’s NOT a social experiment or a “safe space”. If that’s not understood, then that student is in the wrong place. Yes, I’m a retired NCO and I hate to see where our Armed Forces are headed.
The military academies do kick out those who do not meet their standards.
