I'm not sure anyone here ever wrote "China is neutral".
Speaking for myself, what I'VE always said is the Chinese are interested only in keeping Russia squeezed into a growing quagmire with the West because that will keep the Russians selling them petroleum at around 50 cents on the dollar.
China is doing just enough to be able to say to the Russians "see we're helping!" without actually doing anything incredibly useful OR that will piss off the west in general or the United States in particular.
For the record, the United States I suspect has ZERO upset or sympathy for the Russians selling the Chinese petroleum "off the books" because it keeps the Chinese from drawing from the "above board" world petroleum markets. It's one reason...despite all the "doom and gloom" in 2022 when the war in Ukraine began the oil markets really haven't moved much at all even with the Russians being squeezed out.
Putin, Russia & WNU are being played
