Ukrainian Drone Strike Destroys Russian Nuclear Bomber 650 Kilometers Nnorth Of Ukraine

The Barents Observer: Russia relocates Tu-22M3 bombers to Kola Peninsula after drone attack

During Saturday, at least six Tu-22M3 aircraft have been relocated from the Soltsy-2 air base in Novgorod region to the Olenya air base on the Kola Peninsula.

The Olenya Air Base south of Murmansk is again seen as a safe location for bombers from airports hit by Ukrainian drones. Soltsy-2 was in the early morning hit by a drone. Russia’s Defense Ministry confirms the attack and says one aircraft was damaged due to a fire, Interfax reports.

A Ukrainian war blogger reports on Telegram about two Tu-22M3 being damaged. Soltsy-2 air base is located some 650 kilometers north of Ukraine and is home to the 840th Heavy Bomber Regiment. Russia has frequently used Tu-22M3 bombers to launch attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine.

Not good optics for Russia at all. But these bombers are hardly being used in this conflict, if at all from what I’m reading. This is purely to escalate this conflict by provocation. NATO might just get what it’s asking for as nuclear deterrence assets are now being targeted on Russian soil.

Provocation?, what planet have you been on for 18 months ?

What reality have you been in since 2014?

Nuclear capable bombers form Russia's strategic bomber force have been used to bomb Ukraine. In addition to being military assets of the Russia a belligerent that attacked Ukraine that they were used specifically makes it doubly imperative to take them out.

Don't like a leg of your nuclear triad taken out? the do not attack other countries and do not attack them with asset of your triad.

The "hardly used" lie is verbiage to paint oneself as a victim.

7:30's last sentence is a threat. Bring it.

Venal slow Joe won't be in office forever. Better try for peace while you still can.

There are about 61 of these bombers. So each one represents 1 to 2 % of the total Russian force.

Now if we can get some Blackjacks and TU-95s taken off the list as well that would be awesome.

I’m consistently amazed at the incompetence of the Russians in anticipating Ukrainian attacks. The Ukrainians may win on sheer ingenuity alone.
