DW: Satisfaction in German government plummets
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government has seen its lowest approval ratings since coming to power in 2021. The far-right continues to see a surge in support.
Despite efforts to project unity, Germany's ruling coalition is failing to win back the approval of voters, according to the latest "Deutschlandtrend" survey published Thursday (31.8.).
The latest figures show record lows for Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government, while the opposition conservative Christian Democrats (CDU) as well as the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) continue their upward trend.
The Deutschlandtrend representative survey of 1,310 eligible voters was carried out by pollster infratest from July 28 through August 30.

WNU Editor: IMHO Germany is already in a recession .... Germany is heading into a recession caused by its green energy policies, its politicians warn, as the country is labelled the 'sick man of Europe' for its stagnating economy while Brexit Britain sees growth (Daily Mail). And if this is a cold winter, the energy shock that will then grip Germany will only worsen what little support the German government currently has.

^^^ I think that is a fact that could be proven. The ratio of risk takers to homebodies changed. Memes (culture) changed and the relative percentages of alleles changed.
Same thing with Vietnam although maybe not as great of change as of yet, but still significant. Some served and some fled like Clinton. Clinton lived to splooge everywhere.
stop badmouthing Clinton. He got scholarship and was in England. College guys in US evaded the war. Non whites and those guys not in college served. With easwe you could compile a list of those in GOP who escaped serving.
Clinton is extra special. He dodged the draft in the US and in Europe. He was in anti-war rallies in Europe.
I have respect for people who joined the service to avoid going to Vietnam. In my outfit we had two people with the last name of Snyder. To tell them apart in conversation they had the nicknames of Big Snyder and Little Snyder respectively. Big Snyder had joined the service to avoid being drafted as infantry and going to Vietnam. Once he got in, he stayed in. No one disrespected him or his choice.
Which brings us back to slick Willy. He got spots for ROTC and as soon as the draft lottery was over promptly dropped ROTC. That is wrong. If he had stayed in ROTC and got a rating or billet that make him a REMF or stay stateside that would be kosher.

None of them were president. George Bush was in the Air National Guard and? If Bush had joined the ANG and then quit after the draft lottery was over, I would give him the same treatment as "I did not have sex with that woman".
I am sure that George H.W. Bush had pulled strings to get the billet. GWB might have got it on his own. I do not know. After George Senior was shot down over ChiChi Jima, I give both Bushes a pass. Senior having been in combat told his son to take the billet in no uncertain terms. Junior complied.
Thing is that trick could backfire. The whole ANG unit could be called up to fly over Vietnam. So it was a trick, but I respect it as much as Big Snyder.
George H.W. Bush got shot down over Chi Chi Jima. Democrat partisanshit columnists (may she rot in Hell!) Mary McGrory mocked Bush Sr. for getting shot down by anti-aircraft. If you read the book "Flyboys", you realize that Bush senior was following quasi suicidal orders.
Bush Sr was flying a lumbering torpedo plane. there were no Japanese ships to sink so the brass used the torpedo planes as glide bombers. Given the the way the clouds were and the target (a radar or transmission facility), the torpedo unit was kept coming o their bombing runs on a predictable path. It is no wonder a number of planes were shot down.
But excrement sandwich Mary McGrory ignored all that or did not know, but she carried water for the Democrat Party as ordered. She was posthumously awarded the medal "The Order of Lenin" for her mendacity.
