Growing Fears In Washington That The Current Wars Could Spread

Axios: Behind the Curtain: Rattled U.S. government fears wars could spread

This is a new column by Axios CEO Jim VandeHei and co-founder Mike Allen, based on regular conversations with White House and congressional leaders, CEOs, and top technologists.

Never before have we talked to so many top government officials who, in private, are so worried about so many overseas conflicts at once.

Why it matters: We don't like to sound dire. But to sound a siren of clinical, clear-eyed realism: U.S. officials say this confluence of crises poses epic concern and historic danger.

Behind the scenes: Officials tell us that inside the White House, this was the heaviest, most chilling week since President Biden took office just over 1,000 days ago.

*Former Defense Secretary Bob Gates — who ran the Pentagon under presidents of both parties, George W. Bush and Barack Obama — tells us America is facing the most crises since World War II ended 78 years ago.

WNU Editor: You reap what you sow. You only have to look at the past week when President Biden went to the Middle East to see how US foreign policy has gone off the rails and is in fact escalating tensions and fear that other parties will become involved in the Israel - Hamas war.

I am still shaking my head on how much of a disaster this trip was.

What I saw this week was a disengaged US President who brought no ideas or vision on how to de-escalate the growing crisis in the Middle East. But his administration was certainly busy. Ordering a massive deployment of military forces to the region with the stated goal of aiding Israel coupled with a massive request for monies and arms to be sent to Israel. The Arab world sees this, and you can take this to the bank, this type of policy (if it continues) will only end with America's Arab allies in the Middle East looking elsewhere for new partners and alliances. And as for America's enemies, they will take advantage of this and will strike (as they are doing now) against US military bases and assets in the region.

And then there was President Biden's focus on the Russia - Ukraine war in his speech to the nation on Thursday night. Labeling Putin and Hamas as one and the same, and then again making a request for a massive arms package to Ukraine (calling this a smart investment) while sending Ukraine long range ATACMS. No talk about looking for an end to the war. Just more escalation and personal threats.

And if that was not enough, we now have a new request for even more US military support of Taiwan, breaking promises to Beijing that Washington would respect the "One China" policy.

But what is scary is that a large number of major world leaders do not want to talk with the US President. Even US allies in the Middle East like Saudi Crown Prince Salman and the leaders of Egypt and Jordan do not want to talk to him.

Sighhh ....

I said it before and I will say again. If current trends continue and the Biden administration wins the White House in 2024. I will be seeing a major war where US forces will be directly involved.

Vast numbers of Americans see the disaster. Want no part of it, have opposed the Ukraine debacle from the start, saw the idiocy of the Biden fiefdoms. They are known as MAGA Americans and reviled by Democrats.
MAGA wants energy independence and the Middle East to solve their own problems on their own with much less American blood.

For this the regime hates us.

The fascist/Democrats hate the MAGA Republicans because MAGA wants peace with the rest of the world and a concentration of resources and attention on mainland America, not supporting endless wars overseas.

Russia invaded. Russia wants peace it can leave Ukraine.

If there is anything Biden, Blinken and Sullivan are guilty of, it is easing sanctions o Iran and trying for a nuclear deal. They are reaping the results of their pie in the sky diplomacy.

Iran and it allies are reaping what they have sewn. If Iran tries to send a single nuke to Israel, Iran will experience famine. That is outside of a an Israeli nuclear response. Iranian people will have to take their chances depsosing the Ayatollahs or starve.

"inside the White House, this was the heaviest week since @JoeBiden took office 1,003 days ago"

Bad timing. Right when Biden was due for a diaper change and new round of meds.

Neither do you apparently. Eastern Ukraine was historically Russian, and they are taking it back.

I am all for one world government, but it matters to me how it comes about and what laws they have. I would not want Britain and the Us join at the expense of the 1st amendment, the brits do not have it. In that case the 1 World government can be postponed indefinitely.

Going toward a world government it would make sense to join Russian, Belarus and Ukraine as a polity.

Here is the deal. It cannot be done by force.

I would not be surprised if the WNU was a multi-decadal information space op. I am convinced that there are thousands upon thousands of gmail and other accounts made around 2010 to 2013 as sleeper accounts, It gives them age so they do not look like they were made yesterday in order to push a discussion thread one way or another. If governments or people would do that they would do the same with blogs.

WNU speaks about the number of Russian speakers in Donbas being > 50%. He lies. Every good lie has a kernel of truth. There are ethnic Ukrainians who speak Russian as their first language. Zelensky's 1st language is Russian.

By focusing on the percentage of Russian speakers but not ethnic Russians, WNU spreads his lie.

The usual rule of thumb given for the American Revolution was that a 3rd of people wanted independence, a 3rd were Tories,. and a 3rd were in the middle. Now assume that is true. It means there was bloody fighting although a majority of people did not want independence.

When it comes to the Donbas Russian speaker does not equate to ethnic Russian nor wanting to be part of a Russia. By lumping ethnic Ukrainians Russian speakers as just plain old Russian speakers is an egregious and continuous lie by WNU.

That particular lie does not tell us what fraction of ethnic Russian who are Russian speakers want. I would assume a majority of them want to be part of Russia. but people being people probably not all of them. but WNU wants to gloss over that and assume Russian speaker greater than 50% means that >50% want to join with Russia.

Now that the Russians have come in and started conscripting people, I bet there are a number of ethnic Russian who are Russian speakers, who are reconsidering being part of Russia.
