Since the Ukrainian themselves are Orthodox Christians, there is no Ukrainian war against "Orthodox Christianity." Instead, Russian has weaponized the Russian Orthodox Church to conduct propaganda, recruiting, and espionage. This has been well documented by many governments' law enforcement and journalists. The Russian Orthodox Church has a long tradition of service to the state going back to Tsarist times. The autocephalos Ukrainian Orthodox Church has no connections to the Kremlin.
Since there is no theological difference between the Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox Churches, the Ukrainians cannot be taking actions because against Orthodox Christianity.
What is happening is that Ukraine - as well as many other governments - are taking measures to limit Russian attempts to spy and propagandize through the Russian Orthodox Church. Since Russia is currently invading Ukraine, the Ukrainians have a legitimate reason to crack down harder. They are trying to suppress individual clergy who are committing treason by serving a foreign government in a time of war.
