Perhaps they may be capable of sitting behind the lines and directing drones and other robots in combat, pretending they are video games, but certainly not actual combat.

The last 2 or 3 defense ministers before this one were not serious defense ministers IMO. You could argue the Generalist Versus Specialist "CEO". that as a generalist leader they did not have to have any sort of defense background. That there are still back and forths about generalist versus specialist CEOs proves it is a valid argument.
How the last 2 or 3 defense ministers allowed the the military to become deficient and did not sound the alarm or rock the boat. I get it, boat rockers are thrown overboard and sometimes they should be. But if they first sounded the alarm and waited a decent amount of time before rocking the boat, clipping their career would be faithless execution of public duties.
Two chancellors have been faithless in the execution of their duties to providing a defense. One because they were a fellow traveller or spy and the other because they are gutless unless it is an internecine political fight.

3 decades ago I was on a bike path jogging in sweats with a military logo. It is what I had. Not going to buy extra while going through school. Pass by 2 walkers and a 50-ish white lady comments "You're one of those." I was floored. My attitude now is to duck and not yell fore, when a golf ball or something with more energy is incoming.
You should not go in the military unless you have a good idea of the job you want after your time is up. Be it for a government job or a civilian job.
Before that I was looking out for spitters. There were none, but people with only a few more years than me in service said it happened in the v4ery recent past. of course their once great American city is now a shit hole and literally has shit maps. Live your philosophy and meet your karma.
