The Growing Sentiment In Ukraine Is That They Are Losing The War

AFP: 'We're losing': Ukrainians reel from war chief's stalemate warning

In eastern Ukraine, where another gruelling winter is descending -- along with it a likely freeze in major frontline movements -- one Ukrainian soldier had a grim assessment of the conflict.

The 35-year-old fighting near the war-battered town of Bakhmut went further than comments from Ukraine's most senior military official, who conceded this week that the war with Russia had reached a stalemate.

"I've been saying that for some time now already. Step by step we're losing the war," the serviceman, who uses the call sign "Mudryi" (Wise), told AFP.

"The longer this static war continues, the worse it is for us," he said in a phone interview.

WNU Editor: The above AFP news report is a sober read and confirms what I have been hearing. The failure of the counter-offensive to break the Russian lines coupled with tens of thousands of casualties has stunned everyone I know in Ukraine. They expected at least some advances. They certainly never expected a stalemate nor Russian advances in the northeastern part of the country.

This could have been prevented.

This summer's offensive is a situation that has risen to the level of criminal incompetence.

I stated back then, that an attack on a deliberate defense, combined with a complex obstacle belt, was an act of suicide, when the attacking force does not have superiority in Indirect fire and command of the Air.

I also stated that any well versed infantry captain, with a decent knowledge of history, could have told you that this offensive was doomed from the beginning.

Tragically, this fate became reality. The people responsible for this debacle need to be punished. I am not referring to the Ukrainian Army, but the individuals in the US MILGRP Ukraine, who planned this operation and encouraged/supported it going forward. They knew better.

The blood of the dead is on their hands.

Now we come to the reality in which we stand today.

After looking at Ukrainian manpower numbers (potential fighters) the situation is grim. The recruitment of old men and the sick, speaks volumes. This, combined with General Z's comments in the Economist, that the Russians have superiority in just about all war fighting systems, makes winning near Impossible without NATO direct intervention.

The question now becomes " what is to be done?"

I can say this, giving the Ukrainians F16s will not turn the tide, not against the size of the Russian Air Force and it's Army's ADA capabilities.

What to do? Fall back , dig in and hope for the best? But then , when does it end? And how long will the Ukrainians bleed themselves out until the Russians attack a debilitated army that is so weak, it will be of little or no resistance?

Will NATO finally be forced to intervene? Or will they bail out?

But in accordance with the article , yes , the Ukrainians are losing. It does not mean they cannot still win, but it is well that they know the truth

Time will tell.

"I [INSERT NAME OF RUSSIAN TROLL HERE]stated back then, that an attack on a deliberate defense, combined with a complex obstacle belt, was an act of suicide,"

The Germans broke through the Maginot line. So these things have been done.

One reason for the failure of the Robotyne offensive is 3 things. The Russians had lots and lots of helicopters. This would not be the case if Joe "Parsimonious with ATACMS" Biden had given them before the the attack.

Russia has been bombing the hell out of the Robotyne MSR with glidebombs. If Joe "The Fucker" Biden had given the Ukrainians AMRAAMS there would be fewer Russian planes in the air and those that survived would be further back before they launched.

But like glide bombs Biden slow walked the cluster munitions, which of they had been used for 6 months or a year sooner than they had would have made it more costly for the Russians. maybe they would not been able to stack 3 or 4 regiments for everyone they lose. So while the Ukrainians have not gone forward in Robotyne, they have bled the Russians white. form what I see it is 3 Russians regiments to 1 Ukrainians regiment.

This trade off is a ok with WNU, because he is (What did Jay Faquhar call him?) ... a shit head. That's right! Someone who had never had skin in the game. What is the worst combat injury you can get working for the ICAO? A papercut?

"Of Prague said..." Yeah, that guy is a Czech. My ass! Looking at a Slavic Esperanto what I found going back several years if a complete hatred for Russian. So for a pan Slavic language, a Slavic Esperanto, you would want to somehow harmonize Southern Wester and Eastern language grouping to make it easy as possible for everyone to learn, to be useful, and make grammatical sense.

But the hatred for Russia was palpable. They do not want to factor Russian in.

I was shocked by how the Czechs felt about Russian. So I doubt of Prague is from Prague.

717.

You failed to point out one thing.

I was correct.

But you still do not get it, or you are intentionally being false.

Because you left out a main point. And subsequently edited out that part to make my statement infer that attacks against a defense are not possible. No, I ever stated that.

Here is what I said
A, " I stated back then, that an attack on a deliberate defense, combined with a complex obstacle belt, was an act of suicide, when THE ATTACKING FORCE DOES NOT HAVE SUPERIORITY IN INDIRECT FIRE AND COMMAND OF THE AIR.

Here is what you said

B. that an attack on a deliberate defense, combined with a complex obstacle belt, was an act of suicide,"

Here is what you left out

"WHEN THE ATTACKING FORCE DOES NOT HAVE SUPERIORITY IN INDIRECT FIRE AND COMMAND OF THE AIR."

Then to continue your post, you based the rest of your comments off of this false premise. Therefore, your follow on comments are non sequitur.

A comment.....

You seem to be unable to accept basic facts and your premise's are flawed as well as disjointed.

I stand by what I have said.

I guess you would keep lying to the Ukrainians so they would have some false believe that they are winning? If so, that is disgusting.

BTW the germans never really attacked the main part of the Magiont Line. They attacked the weakest points and part of which was through the Ardennes, and their main force also went around the Line into Belgium.

ATTACKING FORCE DOES NOT HAVE SUPERIORITY IN INDIRECT FIRE AND COMMAND OF THE AIR.

Germans and about 50% of the guns the allies had.

The Allies had 60% of the aircraft.

The Allies had 1,000 more tanks. or about a 3rd more.

Now we would have to see how the aircraft were arranged geographically.

In short you did not prove your "of Prague" but really "of Russia"

Your view of history is distorted and disjointed.

Did you mean in 1940 or 1945? Which year of the war are you pointing to? You do not specify and the differences in military postures in that time period are significant.

Your claims are therefore not valid.

Example , in 1944, the allies clearly had the advantage in Tanks, manpower, air craft and munitions.

That is why, when the germans, went into the defense, they were eventually defeated. Because they lacked sufficient resources to sustain operations.

This is the same situation the Ukrainians are now facing. They do not have sufficient forces to launch an effective offensive or after attrition and the passing of time , enable a successful defense.

Russian with nom de guerre of "Of Prague".

If we are talking of the attack on the Maginot line by the Germans, we are talking about 1940.

You are such a failure. I hope they send you to Siberia.
