CNN: In rare announcement, US says guided missile sub has arrived in Middle East, a message of deterrence to adversaries

In a rare announcement, the US military said a guided missile submarine has arrived in the Middle East, a message of deterrence clearly directed at regional adversaries as the Biden administration tries to avoid a broader conflict amid the Israel-Hamas war.

US Central Command said on social media Sunday that an Ohio-class submarine was entering its area of responsibility. A picture posted with the announcement appeared to show the sub in the Suez Canal northeast of Cairo.

Naval groups usually have submarines. See a carrier there probably is a sub somewhere near. The solos sub cruising an announcement is a regime trying to tell Iran "This time we really, really mean it!"

It is an announcement. i.e. words.

Show the flag with a weapon of war is no verbal communication or in other words "words".

The term "acta non verba" is used by people, who believe words are BS. If people mostly followed through on their words the phrase would not be special or memorable.

So American troops got hit starting a couple weeks ago. It looked bad, so with fanfare they hit some warehouses or supply dumps (mostly). With the strong man kabuki theater done, have there been more strikes? American troops are still getting shot at. But no news releases of militias being hit, because it is not dragging down the polls (that they can tell). Otherwise, they would have announced new retaliatory strikes with much fanfare.

The ayatollahs see this. They are not impressed.

"US officials confirm that Houthis, Iranian proxies in Yemen, shot down a MQ-9 Reaper UAV over the Red Sea."

Joe Blow will do nothing to the Houthis.

If they scratch a sub?

I would imagine there are multiple Virginia class subs for each carrier group. Could get busy.

1144 you are right. They have at "least" 1 per carrier group.
