Politico: Biden won’t accept an Austin resignation if offered
The president is not considering sacking his defense secretary, officials say.
President Joe Biden is not considering firing Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin after he did not tell the White House about his emergency hospitalization, four senior administration officials told POLITICO.
Beyond that, one official noted, the president would not accept a resignation if Austin were to offer one.
“Austin’s going nowhere,” one of the senior administration officials said.
The Pentagon had already announced that Austin wasn’t planning to resign. “He remains focused on conducting his duties as secretary of Defense in defense of our nation,” DOD spokesperson Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters.

Seems a black man or woman who fu&cks up royally cant be fired.

This has nothing to do with the man's color. He is a very private person and had not told anyone he was going to the hospital. The person--a woman--who would cover for him was on vacation and that then was the problem. She rushed back to cover the post.
If you think all things have to do with race, then how many years earlier would no Black person even be considered for a job like that? As late as WWII blacks were segregated in our military.
Private person is a red herring. When you hold high office, which has great responsibilities, you lose some of your privacy.
His back up was a a deputy secretary on vacation in Puerto Rico, who i am sure had the bestest of cell coverage.
It has to do with his color, his political persuasion and rank.

Not a situation I would ever expect. What would the biden circus do if things got hot with adversaries ? The conflict might be over before they got organized to respond. Hmmm. What tie should I wear yesterday?
