CNN: Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin treated for prostate cancer
Washington CNN — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is being treated for prostate cancer and suffered complications that led to him being taken to hospital on New Year’s Day where he is still being treated, according to a statement Tuesday from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The statement revealed that the cancer was discovered in early December. He underwent a “minimally invasive surgical procedure” on December 22 called a prostatectomy to treat the cancer.
“He was under general anesthesia during this procedure. Secretary Austin recovered uneventfully from his surgery and returned home the next morning. His prostate cancer was detected early, and his prognosis is excellent,” the statement read.

The whole mess could have been easily avoided. Just a simple disclosure; "I'm going into treatment for prostate cancer, during my down time my deputy, General Smith will assume my responsibilities". Yes he'd come under scrutiny for being ill with cancer, but as it is now he's on course for resignation. Austin is in the line of succession to the presidency and a main link in the nuclear weapons chain of command. You can't just disappear and then lie about it.
Its a pathological urge in DC to first cover-up, then lie, then get burnt.

Probably should retire if it were lung cancer too. Patients are all up and down due to steroids they take before chemo.

Although "distant prostate cancer" seems pretty bad. So they fessed up and still lied. What type of prostate cancer is it?
If it is the worst kind then it looks to me if Lloyd is selfishly pulling a Kennedy/McCain act on us.
