Radical Cleric Abu Hamza Sentenced To Life By A U.S. Court On Terrorism Charges

BBC: Radical cleric Abu Hamza jailed for life by US court

WNU Editor: It took years for this conviction .... too long in my opinion .... but this is probably the last that we will ever hear of Abu Hamza. As for radical clerics who preach hate, incite violence, and support radical Islamic militants ... the warning to them is clear .... if you use your position to preach this hatred as well as supporting these radical and violent groups .... there are consequences. As for Abu Hamza .... it is probably this crime which doomed him.

Why Abu Hamza Is Facing U.S. Justice

American Woman Set To Testify Against 'Terror' Preacher Abu Hamza After She Was Kidnapped By His Militants In Yemen -- Daily Mail

* Mary Quin was abducted with a tour group in 1998 where she was used as a human shield
* Abu Hamza landed in New York on Saturday morning with four other terror suspects after being flown out from U.S. military base in Britain
* Preacher will face charges relating to kidnap in Yemen in 1998, advocating violent jihad in Afghanistan and a jihad training camp in Oregon
* Entered no plea as he appeared in court in Manhattan on Saturday

An American woman who was kidnapped in Yemen is expected to stand up in court against the Islamic hate preacher who orchestrated her terrifying ordeal.

Mary Quin was abducted along with 15 other tourists in 1998 by militants who were instructed by hate preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri.

During the tour group's rescue, she was used as a human shield and four other hostages were killed.

My Comment: So Abu Hamza gloated and bragged to Mary Quin that the reason why he supported her kidnapping (and being held as a hostage) was to secure the release of his son and stepson. Oooopppsssss .... it looks like his ego and words are now going to put him behind bars for the rest of his life.

U.S. Court Fight Starts For Radical Cleric Sent From Britain -- Reuters

(Reuters) - One-eyed radical Islamist cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri made his first appearance in federal court in New York on Saturday after Britain extradited him to the United States to face trial and a potential life sentence on terrorism charges.

The Egyptian-born Hamza, 54, entered U.S. District Court in Manhattan after being refused the prosthetics - including his signature metal hook - that he wears because of his missing forearms.

Hamza is accused by Washington of supporting al Qaeda, aiding a kidnapping in Yemen and plotting to open a training camp for militants in the United States.

He was flown late on Friday to the United States along with four other men also wanted on U.S. terrorism charges.

British Judges Approve Extradition of Muslim Cleric -- New York Times

LONDON — A fiery Islamic preacher and four other suspects wanted in the United States to face an array of terrorism charges lost an appeal on Friday against extradition, potentially opening the way for them to be sent to face trial in an American court.

The ruling by two British judges on the High Court came after years of legal battles in British and European courts that tested the delicate balance between civil liberties and national security.

The preacher, Abu Hamza al-Masri, is one of five terrorism suspects who had appealed to the High Court after the European Court of Human Rights ruled last week in favor of extradition.

Britain can extradite five terror suspects to the US, a European court ruled. Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri is accused of trying to set up an Al Qaeda training camp in Oregon.

Britain can send five suspects to the United States to face terrorism charges, European judges ruled on Tuesday, a judgement that may ease domestic pressure on Prime Minister David Cameron to take a tougher line on the extradition of terror suspects.

The most high-profile suspect covered by the European Court of Human Rights ruling is Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri, a one-eyed radical with hooks for hands who hailed the Sept. 11, 2001 hijacked airliner attacks on the United States.

Another Failure Of British Law Enforcement, And Why Law Enforcement Alone Cannot Contain This Threat

From The Daily Mail:

American counter-terrorism chiefs are demanding a full explanation from Britain of how radical cleric Abu Hamza was able to smuggle murderous messages from his UK prison cell to Al Qaeda's deputy leader.

The major diplomatic row comes in the wake of a long-running battle by US prosecutors to extradite the former imam of London's Finsbury Park mosque to stand trial in America.

My Comment: The tactics and tools of terrorism have evolved from the days of small groups organizing to plant bombs at symbolic targets that when detonated would make a political or social message to today's terrorist groups who have a clear policy of not only committing mass murder, but to also enslave mass populations under their rule.

I fail to see how bringing about indictments against individuals who have the support of millions in the Muslim world will solve or confront this threat. I also fail to see how Geneva convention rules can apply to these same individuals who have openly made it a policy to commit mass murder.

Unfortunately, the British are in denial with their situation, and are clearly not sensitive to the threats that they face.
