Outgoing Defence Secretary Ben Wallace Suggests UK Will Be 'In A Conflict' By 2030

Yahoo News: UK will be 'in a conflict' by 2030, outgoing defence secretary Ben Wallace suggests 

The UK will be "in a conflict" by the end of the decade, outgoing defence secretary Ben Wallace has suggested. 

Wallace has also expressed concern about what a "deeply wounded" Putin will do if Russia is defeated in the war he started in Ukraine. 

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Wallace announced he will quit the government when Rishi Sunak announces a ministerial reshuffle. This is expected in September. He will also stand down as an MP at next year’s general election.

Ben Wallace is to leave government at the next cabinet reshuffle after four years as defence secretary and will not stand in the general election. 

Wallace, who has played a key role in responding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and was a close ally of Boris Johnson, told the Sunday Times he was “not standing next time” but he ruled out leaving parliament “prematurely” and forcing another byelection on Rishi Sunak, of whom he remains supportive.

UK Defense Secretary Wallace Warns A Global 'Conflict Is Coming'

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace today warned the world is facing a wider conflict as a range of adversaries around the world - from Russia to China - pose a threat to our future safety. 

Wallace said by the end of the decade, the world will be a 'more dangerous, unstable place' in his starkest warning yet that there could be a World War Three. 

He warned that a 'conflict is coming', pointing to how there could be a wider conflict between NATO and Russia in the future as well as the threat posed by a 'rising China' and African extremists.
