Justice Department Moving Forward With Criminal Investigations Into CIA Interrogations That Resulted In The Deaths Of Two Detainees

Justice Department to Investigate 2 Deaths in CIA Interrogation Review -- FOX News

The Justice Department is moving forward with criminal investigations into CIA interrogations of two detainees who died in the agency's custody.

The decision is the result of a nearly two-year preliminary review into the Bush-era interrogations by prosecutor John Durham, Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday

In a statement, Holder said further investigation of the other cases under review is "not warranted."

My Comment: The key sentence in this report is the following ....

.... Holder said further investigation of the other cases under review is "not warranted."

In short, they want someone's scalp .... and not to spook anyone else in the CIA/intelligence community they are going to close all the other files.

This is a breaking news story, and I will update it either later tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

After Obtaining The Intel Necessary To Track Down Bin Laden, CIA Officials Will Still Be Threatened With Prosecutions By The Justice Department

Eric Holder's bin Laden Moment -- Daniel Henninger, Wall Street Journal

The moment has come for Mr. Holder to end his investigation of the CIA's interrogators of terrorist detainees.

As the whole of America takes a bin Laden victory lap, let us pause to remember some of this celebrated event's most forgotten men: the Central Intelligence Agency officers who sit under the cloud of a criminal investigation begun in 2009 by Attorney General Eric Holder into their interrogations of captured terrorists.

That's right, the Americans whose interrogation of al Qaeda operatives may have put in motion the death of this mass murderer may themselves face prosecution by the country they were trying to protect.

My Comment: They cannot change who they are .... they will continue with the investigations and will continue to maintain the threat of prosecutions. I say .... OK .... the elections are just a year away and we know what will be happening then if they continue with this stupid witch hunt.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama shrugged off a request by seven former CIA chiefs to end a probe into allegations of prisoner abuse, saying in an interview released on Sunday that "nobody's above the law."

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder last month named a prosecutor to examine whether criminal charges should be filed filed against Central Intelligence Agency interrogators or contractors for going beyond approved interrogation methods.

The CIA Witch Hunt Begins

Nancy Pelosi renewed her call for a truth commission. (file photo). May 15, 2009

With Pelosi’s Blessing, Dems Push Ahead With Probe Of CIA -- The Hill

With their Speaker behind them, House Democrats are pushing ahead with plans to hold a series of hearings investigating instances in which intelligence officials may have misled members of Congress.

Senior Democratic aides said that a major announcement could come by the end of week, but it was already clear on Monday that House Democrats are seizing on weekend news reports that former Vice President Dick Cheney hid information from Congress.

My Comment: The only substantive thing that will come out of this probe will be the high legal bills for present and former CIA officials who took the job after 9/11 to defend this country, and who must now defend themselves in from of Nancy Pelosi and others who gave them the authorization to defend this country in the first place.

Who will want to work in the CIA counter terrorism desk after this? The only people who will apply for this job will be those who will seek the title but not the responsibility of the office or it's position.
