Will President Biden Be Impeached In A Republican Controlled Congress?

President Biden. WhiteHouse.gov

Mediaite: SHOCK POLL: Almost 70 Percent of Republicans Say IMPEACH BIDEN After Midterm Win

Almost 70 percent of Republican voters say the House of Representatives should impeach President Joe Biden if their party takes over the chamber in the 2022 midterms — doubling the number of all other Americans who say the same.

Former President Donald Trump was impeached twice, the second time for inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Overwhelming majorities of Americans believe the actions surrounding that event are a crime — over 71 percent in one recent poll.

A roughly equal percentage of Americans (66%) do not believe that President Biden should be impeached if Republicans retake the majority in November — perhaps as a consequence of the fact that Biden has not been credibly accused of any crimes in office.

WNU Editor: A lot can happen from now till the US midterm elections. But in the event the Republicans do win the House, I do not expect impeachment will be the number one priority. What I do expect are Congressional hearings to be conducted on how President Biden benefited from his son's and his brother's business dealings when he was Vice President, especially in regards to Ukraine and China. And if the same low standard is applied to President Biden as it was applied to President Trump, the possibility of an impeachment by the US Congress in the last year of President Biden's term will become a very real possibility.

There is also the very real possibility that President Biden may resign due to health reasons before an impeachment hearing is held. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine many have started to notice that the President's mental sharpness has been deteriorating at a rate that is faster than before.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst poss is here .... Over Two-thirds of Republicans Think President Biden Should be Impeached if the GOP Retakes the House, According to New National UMass Amherst Poll.

Do You Trust The U.S. Government?

Roger Kimball, American Greatness: Do You Trust the U.S. Government?

Maybe the Russians are doing what the Pentagon and State Department say they are doing. But our mantra should be “Don’t trust unless you can verify.”

Do you trust the U.S. government? I don’t recommend it.

Consider what John Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said a couple of days ago at a press briefing. “We believe,” Kirby said, that Russia is planning to stage a fake attack by Ukrainian military or intelligence forces against Russian sovereign territory, or against Russian speaking people,” in order to justify an invasion of Ukraine. Kirby had lots of details: “We believe that Russia would produce a very graphic propaganda video, which would include corpses and actors that would be depicting mourners, and images of destroyed locations, as well as military equipment, at the hands of Ukraine or the West.”

Gosh. Should we be worried? Yes. But not necessarily for the reasons that Kirby and his puppet masters want you to be worried. The United States is sending troops and arms to aid Ukraine, so of course there needs to be an emergency to justify that action. John Kirby just outlined a scary scenario. But inquiring minds want to know: What’s his evidence for this dramatic claim?

That was the burden of the remarkable exchange between State Department spokesman (and former CIA operative) Ned Price and veteran AP reporter Matt Lee.

WNU Editor: The mantra "Don't trust unless you can verify" is a good one. It is hard to go wrong with that point of view.

Critics Pile On President Biden's Press Conference And The Media's Performance

Philip Wegmann, Real clear Politics:
President Biden Finally Meets the Press

The new president started with good news. Joe Biden told reporters assembled at the White House for his first official press conference that he now expects 200 million doses of the COVID vaccine will be administered by the end of his first 100 days in office. And that’s not all.

He expects the majority of K-8 students will soon be back in the classroom. He announced that more than 100 million Americans have cashed their $1,400 relief checks. He was pleased to report that unemployment is down and economic growth projections are up.

WNU Editor: What is troubling to me is how other countries saw the press conference and President Biden's performance. Bottom line. They know he is not up to the job. Not even close.

This RT commentary sums up what I have been reading and hearing from Russia, China, and Europe .... Biden’s long-awaited press conference hints America should get ready for President Kamala Harris sooner rather than later (Nebojsa Malic, RT).

Is There Anyone In Charge Of The White House? (Update)

With no one in charge, none of Washington’s recent threats is consistent with identifiable policy objectives

The Biden Administration last week set a new historical record by threatening sanctions against Germany, India, Russia and China in the space of 72 hours.

Germany and India are, or at least were, American allies. Washington is angry at Germany for building a natural gas pipeline with Russia, at India for purchasing a Russian air defense system, at Russia for mistreatment of President Putin’s opponents and at China for treatment of its Uighur Muslim minority.

None of Washington’s recent threats is consistent with identifiable policy objectives. On the contrary, recent outbursts from Biden and his cabinet will cement a Sino-Russian alliance against the US, undermine US efforts to rebuild relations with European allies and damage US efforts to create a “Quad” alliance against China in the Pacific.

WNU Editor: Spengler is saying what this blog has been saying for the past month, and others in the media are now starting to notice. There is no one really in charge in the White House.

Granted .... all the cabinet officials are running their departments, and the US government is doing what it is suppose to do. But overall there is no consistency, and I for one cannot identify this administration's key policy objectives.

It is almost as if each department is defining what the policy should be, and then go ahead to do it.

This lack of direction has clearly shown itself in foreign policy. In the span of two months the White House has accomplished this:

 1) Canceled a key Canadian oil pipeline, threatening to cancel two other critical pipelines, and damaging U.S. - Canada trade with a buy American policy contrary to NAFTA and other trade agreements.

2) Alienating Mexico and other Central American governments with an open border policy that has sparked a massive migration crisis that is impacting every country in the region.

3) Threatening Germany with sanctions over a pipeline that is necessary for its energy security.

4) Threatening India with sanctions over a possible arms purchase from Russia.

5) Sanctions against China.

6) A war of words with Saudi Arabia coupled with a decision to ignore the Saudi Crown Prince and effective ruler of the Kingdom.

7) Alienating Israel and the Gulf states with a push to negotiate a nuclear treaty with Iran that has shown no interest to even consider it.

8) Abandoning the momentum brought about by the Abraham Accords

If this is "America back" and a new era of American diplomacy, I can easily see most countries in the coming year telling the White House to count them out.

Is The Biden Administration Stumbling Into War?

Victor Davis Hanson, American Greatness: Is the Biden Administration Stumbling Into War?

Nothing is more dangerous than stronger powers, even inadvertently, sending signals that are interpreted as weakness by weaker powers.

What causes wars?

Innately aggressive cultures and governments, megalomania, the desire for power, resources, and empire prompt nations to bully or attack others. Less rational Thucydidean motives such as fear and honor and perceptions of self-interest are not to be discounted either.

But what allows these preemptive or aggressive agendas to reify, to take shape, and to leave tens of thousands dead?

The less culpable target (and wars are rarely a matter of 50/50 culpability) also has a say in what causes wars. The invaded and assaulted sometimes overlooked or contextualized serial and mounting aggression. They displayed real military weakness or simple political ineptness that eroded deterrence. They failed to make defensive alliances with stronger nations or slashed defense investments that made the use of deterrent force impossible.

WNU Editor: President Joe Biden says that he will use force as a “tool of last resort” .... Biden Outlines Views on Using Military Power in 1st Pentagon Visit as President (Air Force Magazine). But as I enjoy saying. You may not want war, but war wants you.

The flashpoint that worries me the most is Afghanistan. If the decision is made to keep US soldiers in Afghanistan and break the agreement with the Taliban, that war is going to explode to levels not seen since the fall of the Taliban in 2021.
