Top Marine Corps General Slams Obama’s Handling Of Iraq -- Washington Times

Four-star Gen. James Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, used a speaking engagement at the Brookings Institute on Tuesday to deliver a stinging rebuke of the Obama administration’s handling of Iraq.

“I have a hard time believing that had we been there, and worked with the government, and worked with parliament, and worked with the minister of defense, the minister of interior, I don’t think we’d be in the same shape we’re in today,” Gen. Amos said, the Fiscal Times reported Wednesday.

It is rare for an active-duty serviceman to give such blunt public criticism of a sitting president. While Gen. Amos was careful not to mention the president by name, The Fiscal Times reported that the top general’s upcoming retirement this fall may have played a role in his decision.

My Comment: General Amos is retiring in the next few months .... he is no longer concerned about receiving any blow-back from the White House .... so he is now speaking his mind.

Letter from ex-military officers says James Amos has deprived of due process marines shown urinating on dead Taliban fighters.

A group of former military lawyers and officers have accused the head of the US marine corps of attempting to exert "unlawful command influence" over the prosecution of soldiers who were shown urinating on dead Taliban fighters.

A letter to US lawmakers, signed by 27 individuals, says marine corps commandant James Amos appears to have deprived the marines of due process, made misleading statements about the incident under oath, abused the legal discovery process and besmirched the reputation of a marine corps whistleblower. The letter calls for a congressional inquiry into the allegations.

My Comment: One complaint I will ignore. Two, three, or four .... I will say that there is something there. But 27 military lawyers!!!! Bottom line .... I would say that General Amos has a problem. The ball is now in  Congress to order an investigation .... an investigation and inquiry that I predict will happen.
