The Tillman Family Are Objecting To General McChrystal's Appointment To A White House Post

ABC News Exclusive: Pat Tillman’s Mom Wants General Stanley McChrystal Removed From White House Post -- ABC News

President Obama named retired General Stanley McChrystal to co-chair a White House commission on military families this week, but according to perhaps the most prominent military family of the last decade, McChrystal is unfit for that duty.

Mary Tillman, mother of Pat Tillman, the former professional football player turned Army Ranger who was tragically killed by friendly fire 7 years ago, is angered by McChrystal’s appointment, telling ABC News that he was part of the propaganda effort pushing the false tale that Tillman had been killed by the enemy, and keeping the truth from the world -- and their family.

My Comment: Some "higher-ups" clearly do not feel comfortable with this movie .... hence the "ban". What is my take, this is exactly the type of movie that soldiers in uniform would like to see .... I know that I would.

I guess we will have to wait until it is put on DVD.

‘The Tillman Story’: Director Amir Bar-Lev On His New Documentary -- L.A. Times

Following the tragedy of Sept. 11, NFL football player Pat Tillman turned down a three-year, $3.6 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals to join the Army Rangers. He was later killed by fellow U.S. troops in an April 2004 friendly fire incident in Afghanistan, an event, the public now knows, was covered up by the government, who instead told news outlets — and Tillman’s family — that he had passed away in the line of duty under “devastating enemy fire.”

Pat Tillman's Mother Speaks Out On General McChrystal

Pat Tillman's Mother On Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal: I Told You So -- Mary Tillman, L.A. Times

Mary Tillman speaks on Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal and his role in covering up the truth about her son's death.

Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal was forced to retire because of remarks he made to a Rolling Stone reporter. Having read the article that led to his departure, I feel strangely validated. "The Runaway General" described by journalist Michael Hastings is exactly the arrogant individual I believed him to be.

General Faulted For Awarding Tillman Medal

From The Washington Times:

McChrystal told superiors friendly fire may have killed ex-football star.

The general picked to command U.S. forces in Afghanistan privately warned superiors in 2004 that Army Ranger Cpl. Patrick Tillman may have been accidentally killed by his comrades, even as he approved a Silver Star recommendation that inaccurately portrayed the ex-football star as having died from enemy fire, documents show.

Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal was cited by a Defense Department inspector general's report for being "accountable for the inaccurate and misleading assertions" contained in the medal citation, but he escaped punishment in an episode that scarred the Pentagon's credibility and upset the Tillman family.
