This Is What Happens If You Try To Block A US Presidential Motorcade

FOX News: Biden protester rushes motorcade, gets tackled by Secret Service agent in LA

The protester appeared to be advocating for abortion rights.

A protester in Los Angeles was tackled by the Secret Service on Wednesday after she walked out onto the street and approached President Biden's motorcade.

Biden was in downtown L.A. for the ninth Summit of the Americas. The woman had moved onto a blocked-off street with a bullhorn and was quickly removed.

Agents in Trump's detail have been asked about relocating to West Palm Beach.

As states begin to certify election results that seal a victory for President-elect Joe Biden, even though Donald Trump hasn't conceded there is one clear sign his post-presidency life is taking shape: Secret Service agents in the president's detail are being asked whether they're interested in transferring to Palm Beach, Florida, sources have told ABC News.

The Secret Service's Miami field office also has begun looking at physical reinforcements to Mar-a-Largo, the president's club to which he refers as "the winter White House," the sources added. These moves are considered unofficial as Trump has yet to concede to Biden.

Files On A 2009 Incident Between Then-Vice President Joe Biden And A Secret Service Agent's Girlfriend During A Photo-Op Have Been Destroyed

PJ Media: Joe Biden Accused of Groping Breast of Secret Service Agent’s Girlfriend During 2009 Photo-Op

Judicial Watch announced on Thursday that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security for records that were allegedly destroyed by the Secret Service regarding a 2009 incident between then-Vice President Joe Biden and a Secret Service agent.

Their original FOIA request was made back on May 12, 2020, and sought “all records related to a reported incident in 2009 in which a United States Secret Service Agent reportedly was involved in an altercation with, or attempted to strike, then Vice President Joe Biden” during a photo opportunity.

According to Judicial Watch, the lawsuit was filed after the Secret Service “failed to respond to a July 14, 2020 administrative appeal challenging its claim that all files related to the 2009 altercation ‘ha[d] been destroyed’ due to ‘retention standards.’”

That Is One Huge Rifle The Secret Service Sniper Was Carrying

Warzone/The Drive: About That Huge Rifle The Secret Service Sniper Was Carrying During Trump's Photo Op Walk

The highly customizable weapon has the ability to reach out and take out threats like other snipers over long distances with extreme accuracy.

We get a lot on inquiries sent here to The War Zone HQ, especially after events like the bizarre use of U.S. military assets in Washington D.C. last night, but one feature of yesterday's strange course of events around the White House that seemed to stand out to people watching on TV was a pair of U.S. Secret Service snipers who walked with the big group of administration officials over to St. John's Church for Trump's photo-op. Seeing the snipers walk with the crowd was strange for a number of reasons, but one of the sniper's huge and futuristic-looking rifle seemed to have captured more than a few imaginations.

Newsweek: Coronavirus Hits U.S. Secret Service Staff with 11 Active Cases, 23 Recoveries and 60 in Quarantine

Nearly a dozen members of the U.S. Secret Service protecting the president, the vice president and their families, have been struck by the coronavirus, with several dozen other staff members in self-quarantine.

The Secret Service confirmed in March that a single employee had tested positive for COVID-19. But according to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documents seen by Yahoo News, and also reported by USA Today, the disease is much more widespread, with 11 active cases at the agency, 23 staff members recovered, and 60 now in self-isolation.

Of the Secret Service's 7,600 employees, there are 3,000 agents who work closely with those whom they protect. There has been no breakdown of infection numbers and whether they were civilians or agents working closely with U.S. political leaders. Their locations are also not known.

How Good Is President Trump's Security Protection?

Business Insider: Nancy Pelosi's daughter said she was able to hand Trump a bottle of water in the White House without anyone checking for contamination

* House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's daughter Alexandra handed President Donald Trump a water bottle in the White House without anyone checking it for contamination, according to a new book about the president.
* Alexandra Pelosi was directing a film at the White House when the incident happened six weeks after Trump was sworn in, the book, titled "A Very Stable Genius," said, according to an excerpt of it published in Vanity Fair.
* Pelosi, who had been to the White House before, said it was highly unusual for her to witness such a lax security system.

The daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was able to hand a bottle of water to President Donald Trump without having anyone check for contamination, according to a new book about the White House.

An excerpt from "A Very Stable Genius," written by the Washington Post journalists Philip Rucker and Carol Leonnig, highlighted a glaring security lapse in the White House that took place six weeks after Trump's inauguration. Vanity Fair published the excerpt on Monday.

Alexandra Pelosi had been directing the filming of a documentary inside the White House on March 1, 2017, when the president appeared, the book said.

U.S. Secret Service Has Increased Security At Mar-a-Lago After Iran Put A $80m Hit On President Trump

Secret Service has ramped up security at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida as recent as his last visit where Secret Service members are seen behind the president as he boards Marine One

Daily Mail: Secret Service at Mar-a-Lago adds four checkpoints to examine vehicles for explosives and search guests for weapons after Iran put out $80m hit on the president

* Secret Service has ramped up security at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida
* Members and guests must pass through as many as four Secret Service checkpoints and have their vehicles examined for explosives under the hood
* This comes as Iran has put an $80million bounty on President Trump after he ordered the death of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani
* On Sunday Hesameddin Ashena dropped a chilling hint of an Iranian attack on Donald Trump's empire by posting a link to his properties
* The tougher measures by the Secret Service are in addition to protection by the Air Force, which enforces a no-fly zone over Mar-a-Lago when Trump is in town
* Trump showed his gratitude to the agents before the new year by inviting them to a Sunday evening buffet where steak and lobster were served

The Secret Service has substantially toughened security at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort after three potentially harmful intrusions and now as Iran has put out an $80million hit on the president.

No longer can anyone wander onto the Palm Beach property under false pretenses, as happened last March with Yujing Zhang from China.

Depending on where members and guests are headed on the property, they now may have to pass through as many as four Secret Service security checkpoints.

Their identities are checked based on their driver's licenses, and their vehicles are examined for explosives under the hood and in the trunk. They must pass through metal detectors or be wanded for weapons or explosives at several more check points.

The 2020 U.S. Presidential Campaign Is Going To Be A Challenge For The Secret Service

Thousands of President Trump's supporters reveled in the raucous start to his 2020 reelection campaign last night. But around 150 folks in and around Orlando's Amway Center weren't having very much fun at all.

Namely, the agents and officers of the U.S. Secret Service. Because for those public servants and their compatriots across the nation, two factors will make the 2020 campaign a particular protective challenge: scale and emotion.

U.S. Secret Service Director Fired By The White House

CNN: Trump is removing US Secret Service director

United States Secret Service director Randolph "Tex" Alles is being removed from his position, multiple administration officials tell CNN.

President Donald Trump instructed his acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, to fire Alles. Alles remains in his position as of now but has been asked to leave.

The USSS director was told two weeks ago there would be a transition in leadership and he was asked to stay on until there was a replacement, according to a source close to the director.

Secret Service officials have been caught by surprise with the news and are only finding out through CNN, according to the source.

Revealed How The Secret Service Foiled An Assassination Plot Against Trump by ISIS

Daily Beast: How the Secret Service Foiled an Assassination Plot Against Trump by ISIS

A pair of Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Trump open up about the anxieties of their jobs and a pair of credible assassination threats they stopped in Manila.

In November 1996, President Clinton visited Manila for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum. Protests raged in the streets, with American flags being burned, so local police closed down many roads, allowing the Secret Service to chart a specific route for the president’s motorcade. As the president and members of his cabinet traveled from their hotel to the first venue of the day, “There was intelligence that came in, and we at the last minute decided to change the motorcade route,” a former Secret Service agent recalls. “It was determined that al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden had placed a bomb along the route in anticipation of the motorcade coming that way.”

Bin Laden had indeed placed a bomb under a bridge, and just before the president’s motorcade was due to cross it, the Secret Service re-routed the vehicle down a side road. President Clinton (codename: “Eagle”) was safe.

Twenty-one years later, there was a plot against President Trump’s life in Manila—a shocking fact revealed in United States Secret Service: On the Front Line, a two-hour special airing on the National Geographic Channel Sunday night that—for the first time—provides viewers with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the workings of the Secret Service, and the complex measures they take to protect the president of the United States.

President Trump Targeted With The Poison Ricin In A Letter Sent To The White House

Time: Poison Also Found in Letter Sent to President Trump

The Secret Service has confirmed that President Donald Trump also received an envelope containing the poison ricin after the Pentagon discovered two suspicious envelopes that tested positive for the deadly substance.

According to the Secret Service, the envelope was addressed to the President on Oct. 1 but never made it to the White House.

“As a matter of practice, the Secret Service does not comment regarding matters of Protective Intelligence,” the Secret Service said in a statement. “However, in this instance, we can confirm that we are working jointly with our law enforcement partners to fully investigate this matter. Further, all threats directed towards the President, or any Secret Service protectee, are treated seriously and fully investigated.”

WASHINGTON -- Before dawn at the White House Friday, with President Trump inside the residence, a silent night suddenly roared toward daybreak. A Secret Service dog, alarmed by a would-be intruder, rushed the target, part of the first-ever live security drill on White House grounds. The goal is to find problem areas.

Washington Examiner: 'Swarm attack' from armed drones pose 'grave threat' to Trump

The Secret Service is facing a "grave" threat to President Trump from a new wave of high-tech weapons including armed drones, plastic guns made on 3-D printers and even sophisticated IEDs, according to a new alert issued by a former agent.

"This threat is grave," Dan Bongino told Secrets. The author of a new book on the Secret Service that calls for a seismic change of thinking at the agency, Bongino said terrorists are eager to unleash an attack on their "ultimate prize."

New age threats include weaponized drones delivered in "swarms" that could attack the White House or any place the president is. The problem, he explained, is that the agency's agents and Uniformed Division are trained mostly to stop ground attacks.

Secret Service To Conduct 'Live Fire' Exercises Near The White House

Washington Post: “Live Fire” exercise to be held near White House

Gunfire, involving live ammunition, will erupt Saturday near the White House and the Vice President’s residence in a test by the Secret Service.

The agency said it will run a “live fire” calibration of a system that makes it possible to determine exactly when and where shots are fired near the two high-security sites.

In the tests, which will run into early Sunday, shots will be fired into a “bullet trap,” an installation designed to prevent them from going astray. The trap has been tested and validated, according to the agency.

Shooting will be in three-shot increments, the Secret Service said.

From the description, it appears that the system will be similar to shot-spotter technology in use by the D.C. police.

U.S. Secret Service's Budget Under Strain Protecting President Trump And His Family

Washington Post: Secret Service says it will run out of money to protect Trump and his family Sept. 30

The Secret Service said Monday that it has enough money to cover the cost of protecting President Trump and his family through the end of September, but after that the agency will hit a federally mandated cap on salaries and overtime unless Congress intervenes.

If lawmakers don’t lift the cap, about a third of the agency’s agents would be working overtime without being paid, agency officials said.

“The Secret Service estimates that roughly 1,100 employees will work overtime hours in excess of statutory pay caps during calendar year 2017,” Director Randolph “Tex” Alles said in a statement. “To remedy this ongoing and serious problem, the agency has worked closely with the Department of Homeland Security, the Administration, and the Congress over the past several months to find a legislative solution.”

President Trump Appoints A Retired US Marine General To Run The Secret Service

NPR: Trump Names Retired Marine Corps General To Lead Secret Service

President Trump has chosen Randolph "Tex" Alles to lead the U.S. Secret Service, turning to an outsider to head the beleaguered agency tasked with protecting the president and his family.

A retired Marine Corps general, Alles is currently acting deputy commissioner of customs and border protection. He is the first Secret Service director in recent history not to come from within the ranks — a step many congressional critics have said is necessary to remake the service's culture.

The Secret Service faces an array of challenges. Most recently, its budget has been stretched this year as it watches over a president who travels between several residences, in addition to protecting his immediate family, which oversees a worldwide business. And first lady Melania Trump has remained in New York City while the couple's son, Barron, finishes school.

In A First, The Next Secret Service Director Will Be From The U.S. Military

Washington Examiner: Exclusive: Secret Service braces for 'outsider' director from the military

The Secret Service is bracing for the impending appointment of a new director with a senior military rank, the first time an agency chief would come from outside the service in modern history.

Agents and officers are expecting Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, a retired Marine general and former head of U.S. Central Command, to tap another general to head the Secret Service and help reform the agency and impose more rigorous and even-handed discipline, according to two knowledgeable sources.

President Trump's appointment of a general to the top Secret Service post, at the behest of Kelly, is expected to take place soon – with employees anticipating an announcement some time in the next week. Former Director Joseph Clancy retired from the agency for a second time March 3, and acting director William Callahan has taken on the top leadership role over the last three weeks in his absence.

Former Secret Service: President Trump No Longer Safe In White House

FOX News: President Trump no longer safe in White House: Former Secret Service agent

The president is no longer safe on the White House grounds, according to former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who once guarded presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Bongino made the stunning assessment in an interview Friday with Fox News. It followed an incident last Friday night when a man jumped the White House fence and may have roamed the property for as long as 15 minutes before he was stopped by the Secret Service.

Jonathan Tran, who carried two cans of mace, set off multiple alarms, Bongino said, and was even spotted by Secret Service officers, but was still able to come within “close proximity” of the White House and even reportedly “jiggled the door” to the executive mansion.
