US Vice President Harris Says President Biden 'Intends' To Run For Re-Relection In 2024

L.A. Times: Vice President Harris says Biden 'intends' to run for reelection in 2024 

Vice President Kamala Harris created new uncertainty Wednesday about President Biden's intentions to run for reelection in 2024, pulling back from a definitive statement she had made earlier in the week. 

 “The president intends to run and if he does, I will be his ticket mate. We will run together,” Harris told a Times reporter Wednesday as she prepared to depart for California aboard Air Force Two. 

Advisors had told the reporter that Harris wanted to come to the back of the plane to clarify what she told CNN on Monday. In an interview with CNN's Dana Bash, Harris was asked about speculation that Biden would not run and about her own potential candidacy. 

"Joe Biden is running for reelection, and I will be his ticket mate," Harris told CNN. "Full stop."

WNU Editor: President Biden will not be running for re-election. Running a campaign from his basement home may have worked during the Covid lock-downs in the 2020 Presidential election. But 2024 is going to be different, and he will need to hit the campaign trail and engage with the public. I do not see him having the energy to do it. On second thought .... forget about 2024. He does not have the energy or focus to do it now.

Reuters: U.S. VP Harris says Russia must show it is serious about diplomacy 

MUNICH (Reuters) -U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and leaders from three Baltic nations on Friday and said Russia must show it is open to diplomacy, while warning Moscow of severe consequences if it invades Ukraine.

The Russian defense ministry said earlier in the day that President Vladimir Putin would on Saturday oversee exercises by Russia's nuclear forces involving the launch of ballistic and cruise missiles. 

Heralding NATO unity, Harris said "an attack on one is an attack on all," and the United States and its allies were ready to respond with sanctions if Putin decided to invade Ukraine.

The last vice president of the United States to resign was Spiro Agnew in October 1973. Should Vice President Harris be the next? 

This is not a partisan attack against Harris. If anything, what I write is likely to upset a number of Republicans and conservatives who would prefer to bury any options to upgrade the Democratic Party’s 2024 ticket. 

Ironically, as more and more Republicans hope that Harris remains on the ticket — especially as the candidate for president — a growing number of Democrats are publicly vocalizing their concerns about President Biden and Harris as viable candidates three years from now.

* The vice president on Tuesday addressed the National Congress of American Indians 78th Annual Convention 

* She said that history did not adequately reflect the damage done to Native American communities by European explorers 

* Harris said that the Biden administration was working to right the historic wrongs 

* She also said that Biden's infrastructure bill would designate funds to help tribal communities with internet connections and better facilities Kamala Harris has vowed to address the 'shameful past' of America's European explorers, saying they 'ushered in a wave of devastation' for Native Americans when they arrived 500 years ago. 

The vice president was speaking at the National Congress of American Indians 78th Annual Convention, held this year in Portland, Oregon. 

She spoke the day after Columbus Day - which has also been formally recognized for the first time this year as 'Indigenous Peoples' Day' by President Joe Biden .
