Every Thursday, Task & Purpose tells a story of heroism, usually from the 2.6 million veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. In light of the recent publicity surrounding a couple of the several dozen men who were on the bin Laden raid, we’ve decided to recognize those who are doing the right thing and staying in the shadows.

Between the SEALs, the Army special ops pilots, the remain behind element in the Chinooks, and CIA assets, 79 Americans plus one really badass dog executed the raid that ended in bin Laden’s life. These men were 79 of thousands of men and women who worked tirelessly for a decade in the military, intelligence, and diplomatic communities.

Did The Pentagon Violate The Freedom of Information Act by Withholding Bin Laden's DNA Results? -- Slate

The leaked secret budget documents reported on today in the Washington Post revealed that an American military lab in Afghanistan confirmed Osama bin Laden’s identity using DNA analysis shortly after he was killed. The AP notes that previously the Pentagon denied “it had any records of these tests in a response to a Freedom of Information Act request filed by The Associated Press.”

The AP says, the day after bin Laden was killed, it submitted FOIA requests for verification tests performed on bin Laden, as well as videos, photographs, and other documents related to the mission. In March 2012, the AP reports it was informed by the Defense Department that it could not locate any of the requested files.

My Comment: The Pentagon lied .... but the sad part is that even though this lie has now been revealed .... no one is going to be held accountable.

Navy SEAL Auctions Knife From bin Laden Raid -- Daily Caller

A prized piece of Navy SEAL memorabilia is being auctioned to benefit Special Operation Forces and their families.

The auction item is the Emerson CQC-7 folding knife that was carried by “Mark Owen,” a SEAL who was sent to kill or capture now-deceased terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden on May 1, 2011.

The Mark Owen pseudonym is used by the former DEVGRU mission member who published the account of the raid in the book “No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden.”

Pentagon Issues Rules On How To Discuss SEAL’s Book -- Washington Times

The Pentagon’s top intelligence official has issued guidance on how to read and discuss “No Easy Day,” an ex-Navy SEAL’s unauthorized account of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

Pentagon employees may buy “No Easy Day,” but have to be guarded with whom they discuss the book’s contents.

“On 04 September 2012, the assistant secretary defense for public affairs noted that the Department believes the recently published book ‘No Easy Day’ (NED) contains classified and sensitive unclassified information,” begins the guidance, a copy of which was provided to The Washington Times. “As has been reported in the press, the author did not submit this book for pre-publication review that is required by non-disclosure agreements he signed.”

My Comment: This is pathetic .... but someone in the Pentagon obviously believes that releasing a guideline on how to discuss Matt Bissonnette's book "No Easy Day" will influence poeple on how to discuss the book.

My Comment: The ISI is one of the most corrupt agencies in the world. No one is going to finger Bin Laden .... no one. The restriction on the CIA are there for a reason .... to protect them .... yes. But the restrictions are there to control them and to make sure that they do not succeed.

The only way to find Bin Laden is to send troops into the area .... but that is not going to happen.

Hence we have this silly cat and mouse game, with the cat always in its cage.

WASHINGTON: Late last year, top Bush administration officials decided to take a step they had long resisted. They drafted a secret plan to authorize the Pentagon's Special Operations forces to launch missions into the snow-capped mountains of Pakistan to capture or kill top leaders of Al Qaeda.

Intelligence reports for more than a year had been streaming in about Osama bin Laden's terror network rebuilding in the Pakistani tribal areas, a problem that had been exacerbated by years of missteps in Washington and the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, sharp policy disagreements, and turf battles between American counterterrorism agencies.

My Comment: This was the first article that I read this morning. I am not surprised ....t Bin Laden has been on the loose for the past decade and no one has come close to getting the guy. We now know why. The political leadership does not want to go after him if there are "complications" in the operation.

Pakistan's role in this affair is also beneath contempt.

On the positive note, Bin Laden's network has been destroyed. But like the phoenix he can arise from the ashes if he and his main men are not stopped.
