Poland’s Prime Minister Tells Ukraine’s Zelensky To Never ‘Insult Poles Again’

Reuters: Polish PM tells Ukraine's Zelenskiy 'never to insult Poles again'

WARSAW (Reuters) -Poland's prime minister told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday not to "insult" Poles, maintaining harsh rhetoric towards Kyiv after the Polish president had sought to defuse a simmering row over grain imports.

Poland decided last week to extend a ban on Ukrainian grain imports, shaking Kyiv's relationship with a neighbour that has been seen as one of its staunchest allies since Russia invaded Ukraine in February last year.

Poland's Prime Minister Says Poland Will Stop Providing Arms To Ukraine

CNN: Poland will stop providing weapons to Ukraine as dispute over grain imports deepens

Poland said Wednesday it will stop providing weapons to Ukraine amid a growing dispute between the two countries over a temporary ban on Ukrainian grain imports.

“We no longer transfer weapons to Ukraine because we are now arming Poland,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on social media.

Poland has long been one of Ukraine’s staunchest backers since Moscow’s invasion of its neighbor, alongside multiple former Eastern bloc nations who fear they could be next if Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expansionist war is successful.

Polish President Says “Ukraine Is Like A Drowning Man, It Can Drag Us Into The Depths”

PIndia: "“Ukraine is like a drowning man, it can drag us into the depths”: Polish President Andrzej Duda

The Polish President asserted that it has to first protect its own interest otherwise if Ukraine (drowning man) causes harm to it, they would not be able to help it.

On Tuesday (19 September), Polish President Andrzej Duda likened Ukraine to a drowning man while defending his government’s decision to impose a grain embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products.

During a media briefing outside the UN headquarters in New York, he targeted Ukraine for going against them at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and challenging their decision to ban grain imports from Kyiv.

TASS: Poland, Ukraine to form joint military unit, says Shoigu

The Russian defense minister added that Poland has become the main tool of America’s anti-Russian policy

MOSCOW, August 9. /TASS/. Poland is planning to form a joint Polish-Ukrainian military unit ostensibly for security, but with the ulterior motive of occupying western Ukraine, Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu said.

He drew attention to the dangers associated with Poland’s militarization. "there are plans to create a permanent so-called Polish-Ukrainian formation ostensibly to ensure the security of Western Ukraine, but in fact - for the subsequent occupation of this territory," he said.

Flash forward to today. Russia is convinced that this old agreement is being dust-off, and we will soon be seeing Polish troops being deployed to Western Ukraine. If that does happen, the war will expand to now include a NATO member.

Poland Condemns Ukraine’s Commemoration Of Second World War Two Nationalist Leader Bandera

"We are extremely critical of any moves to glorify Stepan Bandera, there can be no nuances here," Mateusz Morawiecki said. Radek Pietruszka/PAP

Notes From Poland: Poland condemns Ukraine’s commemoration of wartime nationalist leader Bandera

After officials and institutions in Ukraine – including the national parliament – marked the birth anniversary of nationalist leader Stepan Bandera, Polish government figures have criticised the commemoration of a man they see as responsible for the genocide of ethnic Poles and Jews.

Despite Poland and Ukraine having forged an extremely close alliance against Russian aggression this year, remembrance of World War Two history – and in particular the massacre of up to 100,000 Polish civilians by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) – continues to be a bone of contention.
