One Year After The Marines United Scandal, Nude Photos Of Female Personnel Continue To Be Shared Online

VICE News: Explicit photos of female service members are being shared in a Dropbox folder called “Hoes Hoin’”

A spokesperson for Dropbox told VICE News that the folder described in this story has been removed from the platform: "This link has been taken down and banned so it cannot be recirculated on Dropbox. As always, we investigate reports of content that violate our Acceptable Use Policy. If we find a violation, we take down the content and, when appropriate, take other measures such as banning the content and/or reporting to law enforcement."

A Dropbox folder containing hundreds of explicit photos of female U.S. service members is currently circulating online, VICE News has learned. The women in the photos, some topless, others entirely nude, are largely identifiable and appear to be from all branches of the U.S military.

The folder is the latest example of an ongoing problem with revenge porn and online harassment in the U.S. military, one that persists even a year after the revelation of thousands of nude photos of service members shared in a Facebook group called Marines United caused a major scandal. VICE News reported in February on the existence of dozens of informal military social media groups where members continue to share nude photos and make derogatory comments about women, often alongside more banal posts about military life.

Update #2: More nude photos of female military personnel shared online, 1 year after Marines United scandal (RT)

WNU Editor: There is enough pornography on the web that a person can spend a lifetime going through. So why share nude pictures of fellow female personel? My guess is that there is a lot of anger out there, and this is one way of getting revenge .... hence the term "revenge porn".

The Pentagon Pays People To Review Porn

Business Insider: The Pentagon pays a group of people to review porn — here's what they banned from military bases

The Pentagon has a group of people who, quite literally, review pornography for the US military.

It's not a review that gives a play-by-play of the action. Instead, a board of military and civilian officials has to review material and determine whether it's "sexually explicit," as it's against the law for hardcore porn to be sold or rented on military bases.

Though the regulation has been in effect for quite some time and remains so, a source recently tipped us to a Freedom of Information Act request at the website Government Attic that offered a few more details on the inner workings of this review process, and what kind of titles the board banned for sale to US troops.

WNU Editor: This board costs the Pentaon about $5,500 a year.

Former Top Pentagon Intelligence Officer: Captured Islamic State Computers Are Full Of Porn

ISIS terrorists have stockpiles of porn stashed on their computers. (ISIS)

Al Arabiya: ISIS computers full of porn, says former Pentagon top spy

Most files found by US officers on laptops from ISIS contained pornography, according to Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, former Pentagon spy chief.

Flynn, who became head of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012, had earlier held senior intelligence posts in Afghanistan and Iraq after 2001, and has recently written a book on his experiences in the war on terror, which the German newspaper Bild is now serializing, Russia Today reported.

The book titled ‘The Field of Fight - How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies’ with co-author Michael Ledeen, aims to inform Americans of the grave danger they face in the war on terror and how the government needs to take decisive action against the terrorists who are bent on destroying “our way of life”.

No Porn In The Barracks

Military Porn Case Shrinks Barracks Privacy -- McClatchy News

WASHINGTON — A newly upheld conviction of a former Fort Bragg soldier on charges of possessing computer-animated child porn offers several key lessons for military men and woman well beyond the sprawling North Carolina Army base.

One is child pornography is dangerous even if the kids depicted aren’t real. The second is privacy rights diminish in the barracks.

Both lessons spring from a new decision by the nation’s highest military appeals court, upholding the 2009 court-martial conviction of former Specialist Ryan A. Bowersox. Both also come amid the military’s battle to turn soldiers away from pornographic enticements.

My Comment: The trend is obvious .... as more women become soldiers, pornography is going to be more frowned upon and restricted within the confines of the military.
